What is Pre Matric Scholarship all about?

The Pre Matric Scholarship is initiated with the focus to encourage the guardians of the minor communities to send their children to school to receive a proper education.

This scholarship would lighten the financial burden of the parents on school education and further encourage their children to complete school education.

Therefore the main objective of this Pre Matric scholarship is to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the minor communities.

Who is eligible to receive the scholarship?

Students who are willing to apply for the Pre Matric Scholarship should follow the criteria listed below.

  • School – Students should be studying in an Indian Government or private school from classes 1 to 10.

This also includes the reading of government and private institutes, which are chosen by the government and administration of Union territory.

  • Marks previously scored – Students must have scored not less than 50% marks in their previous examination would be eligible to receive the Pre Matric scholarship.
  • The annual income of parents – The parents should not have an annual income of more than one lakh rupees.

Who has been notified as to the minor communities under this Scholarship?

The ones who are notified as to the minor communities under this scholarship include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, and Zoroastrians according to the National Commission of Minorities act 1992.

As per the sources, it is known that about 30 lakh of Pre Matric scholarships would be distributed as Fresh scholarships besides the renewal ones.

What selection process would be followed under the Pre Matric Scholarship plan?

There are two different selection processes that the authorities would follow under the Fresh and Renewal Pre Matric Scholarship plan. So let’s know about those.

Fresh Pre Matric Scholarship selection process

  • In this category, the availability of the Scholarships are fixed and limited which is why it is important to lay down the preference for selection.
  • Although to inform you, 30% of the scholarship is earmarked for female students. Moreover, it is necessary to know that the inter-selection weightage would be given to poverty and not the marks.
  • When it comes to the same income, the merit would be generated from the date of birth criteria of the student.

Renewal Pre Matric Scholarship selection process

  • The renewal of the Pre Matric Scholarship comes with no renewal cases. Any renewal candidate would get the Scholarship if they have scored around 50% marks in their previous examination.
  • Also, the candidate’s application should be verified by the authorities and approved by the state government and union territories.
  • Furthermore, know that once the application renewal time would be next academic year course on the production of a certificate.

How to apply for the Pre Matric Scholarship Program?

Pre Matric Scholarship is for the students of classes 1 to 10 and is implemented through National Scholarships Portal.

Those who are willing to apply for the program should be eligible and can follow the steps mentioned below.

Step 1: Visit the official website – the first you need to do is visit the official website of this Ministry which is www.scholarship.gov.in

Step 2: Choose type – As you want to apply for the Pre Matric Scholarship, make sure to choose the form on the given website.

Step 3: Fill in the details – once the form appears, fill in the details including your personal and qualification information.

Step 4: Print out the form – after the details have been entered, make sure to submit it and download it. Also, you need to print out the form for further use.

Note: it is compulsory to apply online on the website if you are willing to receive the Pre Matric Scholarship.

Information related to the Bank Account details that would be attached in the Scholarship form.

Any student who is applying for the Pre Matric Scholarship should carefully choose their bank/ branch name. It is important that you carefully fill in the bank account number beside the IFSC code.

Also, the bank account details you submit should be in an active state and should have the name of the student on them.

In case if the student does not have his own bank account, then they should have a joint one with their legal guardian ( mother or father ) only.

Moreover, the candidates should check their KYC ” Know Your Customer” status from the bank to successfully make the transaction of the Scholarship amount.

Note: if the bank account details are found incorrect, then the application for the Scholarship would get canceled immediately despite the approval given on the application.

What documents are required to apply for the Scholarship Form?

The documents that you would need to apply for the Pre Matric Scholarship form including the following.

  • Student photograph
  • Institution verification form
  • Self-declaration of the income certificate and of the community by the student.
  • Self-attested mark sheet of last year’s final examination.
  • The fee receipt of the institution and current course year.
  • Bank account proof with the name of the student
  • Bank passbook Xerox with IFSC code
  • Aadhar card
  • Self-declaration of religious certificate
  • Residential certificate

Terms and Conditions

This MOMA scholarship has a number of terms and conditions, just like all other scholarship programs. The following are the main requirements and terms that should be remembered when submitting an application for this scholarship:

  • Specifically for female students, 30% of the scholarship will be allocated. In the event that there are insufficient eligible girl students, these earmarked scholarships may be given to eligible boy students.
  • The total number of minority scholarships offered each year is fixed and capped. If there is a conflict in the selection process, poverty will be given more weight than grades.
  • The scholarship will last the entire length of the program. The maintenance allowance, however, will only be provided for 10 months of the academic year.
  • The State Government/Union Territory administration will be responsible for carrying out the plan.
  • A family can only receive the benefits of this scholarship for up to two students.
  • A student must maintain regular attendance in order to receive this scholarship’s benefits continuously.
  • The claim that a student is an out-of-district student who does not reside in the hostel of the concerned school or institution will be confirmed by that particular school or institution.
  • If a student is found to be breaking the rules of the school, their scholarship may be suspended or revoked.
  • False information provided during the application process will result in the scholarship being taken away immediately. If any portion of the scholarship has already been paid, it will be properly repaid.
  • Tuition and course fees will be credited to the institution’s or school’s bank account. In contrast, the student’s bank account will receive the maintenance allowance.
  • The students chosen for this scholarship are not permitted to use any other scholarship program’s benefits at the same time.
  • The Ministry or any other agency will periodically evaluate the plan in order to keep it up to date.
  • It should be noted that the Government of India reserves the right to alter the terms of the scholarship at any time.
