Overview
Tripura University (TU) has a long history; from a Department of Calcutta University to its recognition as a Central University, it has grown to encompass 44 Departments and 4 Research Centers. Tripura University Fees
The academic fees for students of Tripura University have multiple components e.g. tuition fees, examination charges, registration fees, and caution deposits. Most programs’ tuition fees differ, but other charges are similar:
- Tuition fees: There are three main bands:
- Below INR 5,000 per semester: Most programs fall into this category, with the lowest tuition fees corresponding to the BVoc, MCom and MFA programs (INR 1,000).
- Between INR 11,000 and INR 22,000 per semester: Many professional courses fall into this category, including MPharm (INR 11,000), LLM (INR 15,000), MTech (INR 20,000), and BBA (INR 22,000 per semester).

- Enrollment Fee: This one time fee varies from INR 700 (MCom) to INR 15,000 (BTech - AI and ML).
- Laboratory Fees: These are below INR 2,000 per semester for most programs except BTech and MTech, whose fees are in the INR 5,000-INR 10,000 range.
- Examination Fee: Either INR 800 or INR 1,600 per semester for most courses.
- Minor Charges (all per semester):
- Student Insurance: INR 150.
- Library Fee: INR 300.

The hostel fee has three components:
- Security Deposit: INR 2,000. This one time fee will be refunded when the student leaves the hostel if no harm is caused to University property.
- Admission Fee: INR 1,200.
- Hostel Seat Rent: INR 900 per semester for General category candidates, and INR 600 per semester for SC and ST students.
Other components of living costs include mess fees (only for students who stay on campus) and transportation charges (only for non-hostel dwellers).
Tripura University Admissions
The eligibility criteria for admission to Tripura University, are as follows:
- PG programs:
- Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree (either normal or Honors) in a discipline directly related to that of the Master's program, except for MBA applicants (any Bachelor's degree is accepted).
- Most programs have a cut-off of 50% across all semesters of UG study, or 45% for reserved category applicants. However, many MA programs in Indian languages, MFA, and the Master in Music programs have no cut-off, and only require a Master's degree.
- A valid CUET PG score is necessary for application.
- MTech applicants who have qualified via the GATE examination will be given preference while preparing the merit list, though this is not a compulsory criterion.
- UG and Integrated programs:
- The applicant must have a Standard 12 pass certificate issued by any recognized Board of Higher Secondary Education anywhere in India or abroad, or an equivalent examination.
- Students in the final year of such a program can also apply, provided that they submit the final marksheet before joining Tripura University.
- The cut-off is 50% for most programs, or 45% for reserved category applicants. However, some cut-offs may vary slightly. For example, BEd applicants who have Science and Mathematics as Standard 12 subjects must have an aggregate above 55%.
- CUET UG scores are compulsory for application to Tripura University.

Tripura University Cut-Offs
The only cut-offs related to admission to the UG and PG courses offered by Tripura University are based on the aggregate in the qualifying examination: either the Standard XII Board Exams or UG semester tests. Most UG and PG programs require an UG aggregate of 50%. However, some PG courses have no cut-offs, including MA in Hindi and Kokrobok, Master in Fine Arts, and Master in Music. All cut-offs are relaxed by 5% for SC and ST applicants. Entrance examination cut-offs are only decided after the selection process is completed.

1. LIG Scholarship: This is purely a need-based scholarship, and has no academic merit cut-off. All students whose family income is lower than INR 5,000 per month and have no academic backlogs are eligible, and all qualifying applications will receive full tuition fee scholarships.
2. National Overseas Scholarship: This tuition fee scholarship is open to ST students who have excellent academic credentials and financial need. It is awarded by the Central Government of India, and applications must be submitted by the end of July every year.
3. ONGC Scholarship: These are awarded to meritorious students from socially and financially disadvantaged categories, and carry an amount up to INR 48,000 per year. Students must apply after their admission to TU is confirmed.
4. Post Matric Scholarships: These are awarded to SC, ST, and OBC students whose family incomes do not exceed different cut-offs, and eligible students from these categories will be given full tuition fee waivers in addition to monthly living stipends.
5. Tripura State Government Scholarships: These are similar to the post matric scholarships awarded by the Central Government, and offer relatively lower stipends with more lenient family income criteria.
6. ITSP Scholarship: This is awarded by Indus Towers and the Shishu Sarothi Foundation. It helps students with disabilities from any of the Northeastern states fund their PG Diploma studies at Tripura University by providing scholarships of up to INR 70,000.
7. Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana: This is a grant that allows financially needy students to purchase smartphones for academic study purposes.
