Overview

Spicer Adventist University, Pune was established in 2014, although the roots have been deeper and the founding educational firm was founded in 1915. This is a private university that is recognized by the Maharashtra government and it is a self-funding organization. This university is one of 52 universities that are part of the global seventh-day Adventist system of education.

The university is located in Pune, Maharashtra, with a total campus area of 60 acres, which has greenery at every corner of the university, with huge infrastructure. The university also considered itself the Oxford of the East.

The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various streams like art, science, commerce, law, and others. Along with higher education, the university has many schools which focus on the primary education of children. The faculties  here are experienced and have knowledge of educational as well as industrial fields. The teaching staff here try hard for the success of the students studying here. 

The campus is equipped with a canteen, Internet Center, Conference Hall, Post Office, Counseling and Guidance Center, Recreation Rooms, Dispensary/ Infirmary, Sports Room, Guestrooms, Store, Gymnasium, Photocopy Room, and House of Prayer. 

Spicer Adventist University is ranked 152nd in all India and the 5th state university of Maharashtra by the IIRF University Rankings 2023.

Course Highlights

● The Science division provides various courses in UG, PG, and doctoral programs like B.Sc, M.Sc, and Ph.D. with different subjects of science.

● Arts and Social Sciences also provides various courses like B.A, M.A, and Ph.D in various specializations of arts and social sciences.

● Divisions of commerce have different courses like BBA and B.Com, M.Com and Ph.D in various specializations.

Admission Process

These are the procedures to get admission to SAU:

All admissions to Spicer Adventist University (SAU) are granted by the admission committee after scrutiny of the application form by verifying all the documents. Then the applicant will be issued an admission letter.

Results and Cut off

The university offers Admission is based on merit. Marks obtained at the Bachelor's level/ Master’s level are computed and contribute to 40% of the final score required for admission. There is also a special criteria for students who perform the extracurricular activities and weightage given to NSS, Sports/ Elocution/ Drama/ Other Cultural activities/ Inter University/ State/ Inter State/ National Level during the degree course, plus completion of D.Ed or B.P.Ed and as well if they are ward or spouse of Freedom Fighter/ if they belong to earthquake affected or Govt. project affected family or if they are Widowed/ Divorced/ Deserted Women.

50 percent of marks obtained in the entrance exam are considered for admission. In addition, interviews are conducted for every eligible candidate, and their performance is evaluated on a prescribed scale, which accounts for 10% of the marks required for admission. 

Placement

The office of Placement & Recruitment at SAU facilitates students' exploration of the world of employment and new career avenues. It also facilitates students' vocational planning through career guidance and counseling. The Office of Placement & Recruitment provides professional expertise by training students towards employability skills such as building a career profile. The office lays emphasis on design thinking, innovative thinking, and helping the students to prepare for job interviews and personality development, with a special emphasis on office etiquette and mannerisms.

The Office of Placement & Recruitment office takes the initiative to explore new opportunities for graduates and postgraduates. Campus recruitments are organized. This process involves pre-placement talk with the concerned organization & gives students information about the organization profile, job profile, etc. which is followed by the main selection process, i.e., written test, GD, personal interviews, etc. With the state of the art facilities in the university and student-friendly environment campus recruitment becomes worthwhile.

Campus Facilities

The campus here at the university offers great facilities for the students as well as a fun environment, which is necessary for academic growth. Students here have access to the library, hostel, transport, cafeteria, mess, bank, ATM, and many more things. Apart from all this, the university believes in  extracurricular activities like sports, dance, music, and other performing arts.

The library here has a lot of academic and general books, which are important for students to excel in the academic field. The central library is the place where the students like to visit whenever they lack some knowledge. Apart from this, there are separate departmental libraries for each of the divisions of Arts and Social Sciences, Business Administration, Commerce, Education, Fine Arts, Religious Studies, and Sciences. 

The new building, added with various utility facilities such as the canteen, conference hall, counseling and guidance center, dispensary/infirmary, guestrooms, gymnasium, internet center, recreation rooms, sports rooms, store, Work Education department, etc, on the west side of the institution, is a asset not only to the students, but also to the visiting parents, and other guests, as well as to the staff of the university.

The Confectionery of Spicer Adventist University prepares and serves internationally acclaimed healthy and wholesome food items and drinks and is a favorite not only among the faculty, staff, and students, but is a craze among the local population.

The university also organizes regular health check camps for the students and staff because health can be an issue in academics that cannot be avoided.
