Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU) was established in 2014 and commenced operations in 2016. Located in Motihari in northwestern Bihar, it has grown very rapidly in less than a decade, going from 6 academic programs to 67, with 20 Teaching and Research Departments. Admissions to the University are extremely competitive, with 2.83 lakh students vying for 660 postgraduate seats in the most recent application season.
