Overview

The JIS University, Agarpara was established in the year 2014 by the JIS Group as one of its Educational Initiatives. The foundation of the institute was laid down under the JIS University Act 2014. With the aim to become the top private university in West Bengal and deliver the best brains to the world, the university is growing unstoppably since its establishment. 

JIS University has received various awards and accolades over its years of establishment. In 2020, the university was ranked 1 among multidisciplinary universities by The Week - Hansa Research Survey. It is recognized by major educational organizations in the country like UGC, BCI, PCI, NCTE, and UNAI. Besides, the university also is a proud member of AIU and has received approval from AICTE.

Course Highlights 

• The university offers a variety of courses in several streams under its UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels. To make the students well-versed in what they study in their course curriculum and make them future-ready, the university provides them with ample facilities. Admission Process 

Admission to various courses offered by the university is possible only after the successful completion of a thorough admission process. The university has designed a concise admission procedure to select the best candidates for its different streams. The whole admission process is mentioned below. 

• Student registration at the online website of the college.
• Filling up the application form and then receiving an 11-digit application Id.
• Appearing for the JIS University Entrance Exam at the Agarpara campus.
• Qualifying the exam and making it to the merit list
• Document verification
• Payment for the seat booking

When all these steps are successfully completed, the admission process comes to an end. 

Results and Cut off 

To be eligible to get admission in the desired course at JIS University, candidates should pass the eligibility criteria. The minimum requirement for each course offered is the passing of a 10+2 exam from a recognized board with a decent percentage. Upon fulfillment of the eligibility criteria, the student needs to clear the common entrance test. For all courses, the test is called JET while for B.Tech admissions WBJEE scores are also considered. 

Placement 

To take care of the placement opportunities of the students, the university has a separate training and placement department. The T&P  department acts as a mediator between the various industries and the aspiring graduating students. Apart from just inviting the top companies from various fields, the department also prepares its students for selection. This process is conducted through various summer and winter internship programs, and pre-placement training sessions specific to each course offered.

Alumni Network 

To keep all the alumni of the university under one umbrella, the university possesses a special alumni cell. It connects with alumni spread around the world and engages them with activities related to inside and outside of the college. These alumni then in association with the college work towards the better nurturing of the present students and make them industry-ready. For this, they conduct multiple events like alumni meetings, alumni talks, and others to impart their gained knowledge to the students and make them industry-ready.

Campus Facilities 

The 17.5-acre campus of JIS University is situated within the heart of the city. Students are able to interact with the inside and outside world very easily while within the campus. The whole infrastructure of the campus is built keeping in mind the need for holistic development of the students. Students are provided with ample facilities to help them grow as an allrounder. 

Hostels are provided within the secured environment of the campus separately for boys and girls. Each hostel is equipped with modern infrastructure, a wi-fi facility, and a healthy and nutritious food serving mess. Every time you feel bored, you can take a round around the lush -greenery of the campus or participate in various student activity clubs of the university. Besides, to take care of the physical development of the students, the university campus also has a sporting complex built within along with a fully functional gymnasium and a good hospital.
