Overview

Gandhi Medical College is one of the most distinguished institutions of this country situated in the very heart of India, Madhya Pradesh. The college was established in the year 1955 and became an autonomous body in 1997. It is controlled by the State Government of Madhya Pradesh. Lead us from untruth to truth is their motto. The college has a medico-legal institute, the Regional Eye Institute. The Cardiac Sciences Centre and the upcoming Trauma Centre are the latest additions. The campus building is in Fort of Fatehgarh. It was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. The college encourages both academics and sports for the holistic development of the students. It has a Central Library, a Sports Complex, Hostel facilities, etc. Gandhi Medical College played a crucial role in emergency response and care after the Bhopal Gas Tragedy.

Academic Performance

Gandhi Medical College from its beginning in 1955 has grown magnificently achieving notable success in different directions and has reached up to what we see today. The academic, clinical, and cultural activities are similar to those of any institution of excellence. The college is recognized by the Medical Council of India, as well as the State Paramedical Council M.P. M.B.B.S., Diploma, M.S., M.D., and M. Ch. are various courses recognized by the Medical Council of India. There are a total number of 150 seats for M.B.B.S., 155 for post-graduate courses, and 49 seats for diploma courses. Some of the unique features of the college are its anti-ragging committee, student’s welfare committee, research and scientific society, mentoring cell, etc. This Institute offers a Post-doctoral course in Paediatric Surgery and soon is going to offer Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Plastic Surgery, and will be the first in the state. There is a Central Library which helps the students with their academic achievements and reference. The campus facilities are excellent with all modern-day equipment. There are about 8 hostels that are allocated for the students, out of which 3 hostels are allotted for girls and 5 are for boys. There are more than 250 odd seats in this institute. The campus has four lecture theatres. These lecture theatres can accommodate about 180 students at one time and have many modern digital equipments that make the process of teaching easier.

Placement Highlights

The college provides a year of compulsory internship after they complete their final year examinations. Students are likely paid about INR 10,000 during the internship. Along with this, there are many clinics and hospitals that hire students from this university to do their jobs.
