Admissions

The application process for all postgraduate programs in AMET Business School is online, with a flat fee of INR 1,000 payable at the time of submission of the application form. The deadline for application to MBA courses is the third week of June every year.

The application fee is not refundable even if the candidature is rejected. Students must fill the application form carefully, while taking help from the helpline numbers or through email (admission@ametuniv.ac.in). Any error may lead to rejection of the application.

After registering on the AMET website with their contact details, candidates may fill the application form and pay the fee before submitting the application. Successfully shortlisted candidates may be invited for a personal interview or group discussion round before their seat in the MBA program is confirmed. If the student has appeared for a nationally recognized examination like CAT or XAT, he/she will be exempted from the AMET Entrance Examination.

Placements

AMET Business School graduates are targeted by two main types of recruiters: maritime companies (both Indian and international), and management roles in non-shipping firms.

Students may avail of both on-campus placements (through the Career Cell) and off-campus placements, by leveraging the good name of AMET Business School. As of 2020, the most recent year for which full statistics are available, most jobs were secured at companies based in Chennai, with other offers coming from firms in Cochin and Maharashtra (Angre Port).

Some important recruiters of AMET Business School students include TCS, Emirates Shipping Line, Synergy Maritime, and Repos Energy.

Cut-Offs

AMET Business School publishes cut-off marks (at undergraduate level) on its website for entry to its Shipping MBA degree program: applicants must have at least 50%. However, applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in any discipline from a recognized University in India or abroad. Applicants to the PhD program must hold a Master's degree in a relevant discipline (related to shipping logistics or supply chain management).

The AMET Entrance Examination is intended for admission to the Shipping Logistics MBA degree in AMET Business School; however, there are no fixed cut-off marks associated with the entrance test either. However, a good score in the CAT or equivalent examination will receive an exemption from the AMET Entrance Examination.

Faculty & Alumni

AMET Business School has 19 full time Faculty members, with 7 full Professors, 5 Associate Professors, and 7 Assistant Processors. Approximately 80% of the 19 Faculty members hold both MBA and PhD degrees. Each Professor has a specialized subject, including general MBA disciplines like Management, Finance, and Business Law, as well as maritime subjects like International Trade & Business, and Shipping Logistics.

AMET Business School has a vibrant tradition of guest lectures, with visiting Faculty members from the UAE, Australia, and South Africa motivating students through talks on key topics of international importance, from Shipping Business Management to Finance, Port Operations, and Logistics.

Two associations on campus - the Industry and Institution Collaboration and the AMET Alumni Association (A3) allow students to benefit from business ties and the knowledge of their seniors, respectively. A3 seeks to allow alumni to give back to the School, and guide new graduates in staying connected to AMET University. The alumni of AMET Business School have a significantly international profile, with more than 150 graduates employed in the United Arab Emirates alone.

Preparation & FAQs
