Overview

The University of Patanjali is a private university which is located in the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand and was established in 2006 by the Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust and later recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university has 16 years of excellence in the field of education. The university offers various PG Diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in several specializations, such as  yoga science, Sanskrit, literature, physical education, philosophy, vaidic darshan, psychology, tourism and travel management, music, and many more.

The university has a total of 15 faculty members, and approximately all of them have Ph.D degrees as their highest qualifications, which authenticates their knowledge and qualifications. They also have a lot of teaching experience. The students benefit from their knowledge and experience during their academic session. The university offers a number of scholarship schemes for  students with exceptional academic records, students from the weaker financial sections, and reserve category students.

The university is under the guidance of Swami Ramdev, who is the chancellor of the university and helps students with guidance as he is the face of yoga in the world. The university has students from all over the globe, which creates a global environment at the campus and helps them learn about Indian culture. The campus of the university offers all the facilities that are required for the smooth functioning of an educational firm. The University of Patanjali is ranked 87th in all India and the 6th state university of Uttarakhand by the IIRF University Rankings 2023, among the top universities in India.

Course Highlights

The university offers different courses under various departments in several specializations. Some of them are mentioned below.

• The Department of Yoga Science offers courses like BA, B.Sc, PG Diploma, M.Sc, and Ph.D in various specializations such as yoga health and cultural tourism, yoga science, yogasan sports coaching, and many more.
• The Department of Physical Education and Sports offers courses like BPES and PG Diploma in various specializations of physical education.
• The Department of Sanskrit offers courses like D.Lit, BA, MA, PG Diploma, and Ph.D in various specializations such as Sanskrit literature, Sanskrit grammar, temporal literature, and many more.
• The Department of Philosophy offers courses like BA, MA, and Ph.D. in various specializations such as vaidic darshan, philosophy, and many more.
• The Department of Psychology offers courses like MA and Ph.D in various specializations such as clinical psychology and psychology.
• The Department of Tourism offers an MA in tourism and travel management.
• The Department of Music offers a P.G Diploma in Hindustani Bhartiya Music.

Admission Process

The candidates need to follow the given process to get admission to the university.

• The candidates can apply in both online and offline modes, they can download the application form or apply online on the official website of the university.
• The candidates have to fill in the application form with the required personal details and upload the necessary documents like previous academic records like marksheets and certificates of the previous academic records to prove their eligibility.
• The candidates need to pay an application fee for the final submission of the application form.
• The candidates may have to appear for an entrance test organized by the university and score a cutoff mark for the further process.
• The candidates with the cutoff marks in the entrance examination are called for the counseling process where they have to visit the university with their parents.
• The candidates will have to participate in a physical test and have to verify all the documents uploaded in the application form.
• The university will declare a merit list of the selected candidates along with the waiting list. If the selected candidates fail to submit the admission fee, then the seats will be given to the waiting list candidates,
• The signature of the parents is necessary for admission to the university.

Results and Cut off

The students are admitted to the university on the basis of their previous academic records and the marks they obtain in the entrance tests organized by the university.

There are a few courses that offer admission on a merit basis, but some courses require the students to participate in a written aptitude test along with physical tests and personal interviews. 

The eligibility of the students is important to get admission to any course at the university. The students have to pass the 10+2 or an equivalent level of examination from a recognized board of education with at least 60% marks to get admission to an undergraduate course. For admission to a master’s degree program, students need to have an undergraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university with at least 50% marks. For doctoral courses, students are required to have a master’s degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university in India or abroad with at least 45% marks.

Placement

The university is renowned for its unique style of education and its specialization in yoga and vadic studies, which is preferred by a number of recruiters in India and abroad. The students get an opportunity to start their professional career just after completing their academic session. The university calls various companies for the campus placement drives, which visit the camp regularly. In the last academic session, a total of 43 students out of 173 were placed at an average salary package of 2.2 lakhs per annum. The students have an opportunity to go abroad and have a great career as yoga trainers.

• Samiksha Panwar is working as a Yoga Instructor and Physical Education Teacher at certified trainer of RYT 200 hours.
• Yogi Vinod Pandey is working as a Teacher at Yoga International.
• Anindya Choudhury is working as a Program Specialist at the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme.
• Vasundhara Raghuwanshi is working as a Yoga Counselor Research Scholar at IMS, Banaras Hindu University.

The campus of the university is located in the holy city of Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The campus has a spiritual environment, which creates a peaceful ambiance for the students to complete their academic sessions. The university offers all the facilities, like  hostels, library, sports complex, medical facilities, mess, cafeterias, banking, ATM, transportation, internet, and many more. 

The hostels on campus are divided for boys and girls and offer clean rooms with beds, fans, lights, and other facilities. The mess at the university offers nutritious food for the students, keeping their health conditions in mind. The university offers filtered water for the students and staff.

The university organizes various sports events for the students, which keeps them engaged in the academic process along with the fun activities. The library at the university has a lot of academic books used by the students to get knowledge of the subjects. The students have access to various newspapers and magazines at the library.
