Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (abbreviated SLIET) is a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 for higher education and research in India. It was established by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India in the year 1989. The campus is situated on 451 acres in the Longowal, Sangrur district, Punjab, India. It is an autonomous body controlled by the SLIET Society.

Educational opportunities include technical and practical training in the fields of engineering and technology. The students and alumni of SLIET are informally referred to as SLIETians.

The Degree courses offered are in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Food Engineering & Technology. Our Engineering graduates spend 3 years after diploma, 4 years after 10+2 and 6 years after matriculation in the institute to acquire technical knowledge which provides them with technical edge over others.

It is a matter of huge satisfaction that today the Institute enjoys its status at par with NITs, IIMs, Central Universities and other CFTIs.
