Mahatma Gandhi University is a private state university which is situated in the Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya and was established in 2011 and later recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is famous for its distance learning and skill development programs, which range from a duration of 1 month to 24 months. The university offers certificates for the vocational and skill programs that help the students to prove their skills to any recruiters and keep themselves ahead of the other competitors.

The university offers various diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses at the campus in various specializations such as science, technology, computer applications, social studies, humanities, languages, commerce, management, legal studies, education, health sciences, pharmacy, paramedical science, and many more. The university offers scholarship schemes for students from the weaker financial section and for female students to promote higher education in girls.

• The Faculty of Science and Technology offers courses like DFS, B.Sc, BCA, M.Sc, and MCA in various specializations such as information technology, fire and safety, fire technology and industrial safety management, computer applications, and many more.
• The Faculty of Commerce and Management offers courses like Diploma, B.Com, BBA, M.Com, and MBA in various specializations such as business administration, business management, hotel management, accounting, marketing, finance, international business, human resources, and many more.
• The Faculty of Basic Science offers a B.Sc program in various specializations such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, zoology, botany, and many more.

Admission Process

The candidates need to follow the given procedures to get admission to the university.

• The candidates need to visit the official website of the university to apply in the online mode.
• The candidates need to fill in an application form with their required personal details like name, address and upload the necessary documents like marksheet and certificates of their previous academic records to prove their eligibility.
• The students have to pay an application fee of Rs. 1000 to submit their application forms.
• The candidates have to appear in the entrance examination organized by the university or any other national level entrance examination.
• The candidates with the cutoff marks in the qualifying examinations for their desired course are called for a process of counseling.
• The counseling will include the personal interviews along with the document verification.
• The university will declare a merit list of the selected students who have to submit their admission fee at a given time to confirm their seats in the desired courses at the university.

Results and Cut off

The students are given admission on the basis of their previous academic records and the marks scored in entrance examinations organized by the university and other national level entrance examinations like UPSEE, GMAT, CAT, MAT, SAT, and others.

The university conducts an entrance exam named MGU-GET that is preferred for admissions in many courses, followed by counseling and personal interviews. The university prefers a valid scorecard in CAT, MAT, SAT, GMAT, or other for admission in the management courses.

The eligibility of the candidates must be fulfilled for admission to the university. The students are required to pass the 10+2 or an equivalent level of examination from a recognized board of education to get admission to an undergraduate course. For admission to a master’s degree program, students should have an undergraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university in India or abroad. The university follows similar norms for admission to doctoral programs as one needs to have a postgraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university in India or abroad with at least 55% marks, and a relaxation of 5% marks is given to reserve category students.

The university has a placement cell that offers various programs like industrial visits, webinars, and personality development classes to enhance the all round development of a student. The university offers campus placement drives for students in their final year of the academic session. The students are prepared for the campus placement drives by mock interviews and various aptitude tests. The training and placement cell communicates with both the students and the recruiters and ensures the smooth transition of a student from academic to professional career. The campus of the university is located in the beautiful touristic place of Meghalaya, a district known as Ri-Bhoi and spread in a large green area that has a peaceful environment suitable for educational purposes. The campus is equipped with all the facilities like hostels, library, classrooms, computer labs, medical support systems, playgrounds, gym, seminar halls, auditorium, canteen, mess, music rooms, and many more.

The campus has big playgrounds for all the sports, which host a lot of sports tournaments for students on a regular basis that promote physical fitness in them. The campus has a modern gym with all the equipment necessary for the workouts. Students use the gym to enhance their physical ability and perform intense workouts.

The campus has a hostel facility for girls and boys that has a well maintained room with all the necessary facilities. The mess is attached to the hostel and offers healthy and tasty food for the students and staff. The mess menu is maintained regularly and keeps changing according to the seasons.

The library at the campus has a lot of academic books along with journals and magazines. There is a seating arrangement for the students so that they can study there in a peaceful environment.
