Overview

The Indus University is situated in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat and was established in 2012 as a private state university by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university has a number of institutes that offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various specializations such as engineering, technology, design, management, commerce, information and communication technology, science, arts and humanities, life science, law, aviation technology, and many more.

The university has 15% of seats reserved for international students, which creates a global environment at the campus. The university has collaborations with some of the top national and international organizations that help with student, faculty, knowledge, and resource exchange programs. The students at the university get international exposure in the sense of knowledge and competitions. They learn from the faculty members who have an exceptional set of knowledge and have a lot of teaching experience.

The university organizes various seminars, workshops, webinars, live training programs, and industrial expert lectures that enhance the skill development of the students and they learn about the practicality of the subjects. The students at the university are trained in such a way that they are industry ready and can work in any professional field and in any critical situation. Indus University is ranked 115th in all India and the 11th state university of Gujarat by the IIRF University Rankings 2023 among the top universities in India.

Course Highlights

The university offers a number of courses under various institutes in several specializations. Some of them are mentioned below.

• The Indus Institute of Technology and Engineering offers courses like B.Tech and M.Tech in various specializations such as Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and many more.
• The Indus School of Design offers Bachelors in Design in various specializations such as interior design, fashion design, product design, communication design, and many more.
• The Indus Institute of Information & Communication Technology offers courses like BCA, B.Sc, M.Sc, MCA, and integrated BCA+MCA in various specializations such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, information technology, and many more.
• The Indus Institute of Management Studies offers courses like BBA, B.Com, MBA, BBA+MBA in various specializations such as accounting, marketing, finance, human resources, strategic management, retail management, family business, and many more.

Admission Process

The candidates need to follow the given procedure to get admission to the university.

• The candidates have to fill in an application form on the official website of the university. Or they can download the form from the official website and send the hard copy to the university by postal service.
• The candidates first need to register themselves on the official website and that will lead them to the application form.
• The application form needs to be filled completely with the required personal details and you have to upload the necessary documents like marksheets and certificates of the previous academic records.
• The candidates have to pay an application fee to submit the application form.
• The students need to appear in the qualification examinations for their desired courses.
• The university will call the students with the eligible candidates with the cutoff marks in the qualifying marks for the process of counseling.
• The students will go through group discussions and personal interviews, along with document verification.
• The selected candidates will be advised to submit the admission fee to confirm their seats.

Results and Cut off

The students are given admission to the university on the basis of their previous academic records and the cutoff marks in the qualifying examinations like the entrance examination conducted by the Gujarat state government and national level entrance examinations.

The university recommends JEE Mains, GUJCET, and GATE examinations for admission to engineering courses. 50% of the seats in the professional courses are reserved for the management quota given by the university to the students on the basis of their previous academic records. The entrance examinations like UGAT, CAT, MAT, and CMAT are considered for the management courses. The university conducts entrance examinations for admission into doctoral programs.

The minimum eligibility for an undergraduate course is 10+2 from a recognized board of education in India, and for a master’s degree, students should have an undergraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university in India or abroad. The doctoral degree requires a student to have a master's degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university in India. 

Placement

The university has a training and placement cell, which is responsible for conducting campus placement drives and preparing the students to face the interview and aptitude tests. They carry out a lot of mock interviews, aptitude tests, and personality development classes for the student’s all round development. The training and placement cell regularly communicates with the recruiters to conduct various campus placement drives. The highest package received in the recent session was 12.02 lakhs per annum, and the average salary package offered was 6 lakhs per annum. The major recruiters of the university are Kia Motors, Oracle, Siemens, SKF, Godrej, Samsung, Bridgestone, Posco, Byjus, Capgemini, IDFC First Bank, JSW, Adani Gas, Bajaj Allianz, Apollo Munich, and many more.

Campus Facilities

The campus of the university is located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and spread over an area of 20 acres. It has a fully green campus filled with a lot of trees. The university has beautiful infrastructure, which is eye-catching and has all the facilities like canteen, sports, classrooms, labs, library, hostels, transportation, seminar hall, auditorium, and many more.

The seminar hall at the university hosts a lot of seminars and workshops where the students get an opportunity to interact with intellectuals with a lot of knowledge and experience in that field. The practical skills are imparted to the students along with the theoretical knowledge. The auditorium is a place for parties and carries special events in tech and cultural activities. 

The library at the university is the place of knowledge, which has a lot of books, including academic books, research papers, journals, magazines, and daily newspapers. The students have access to all the books as they can borrow them for a limited period of time. The laboratories at the university are equipped with the modern tools, chemicals, raw materials, and other equipment needed for the practical's.

The hostels at the university are divided into different blocks on the basis of boys and girls. The gym is attached to the hostel, which motivates students to do daily workouts and live a healthy lifestyle. The canteen offers vegetarian food to the students and staff. The mess menu keeps changing according to differences in seasons and the priority of students.

The university offers a transportation service for the scholars and staff. The buses cover approximately 60% of the city and provide quick mobility for the students and staff. The sports grounds host various sports tournaments to engage students in some physical activities.
