Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGU) is one of the oldest higher education institutions in Chhattisgarh, with more than 4 decades of success in Bilaspur. Admissions
The eligibility criteria for admission to Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya are as follows:
- UG programs:
- Applicants to UG courses must have passed both the Standard X and XII Board Examination levels. Students in the final year of their 10+2 studies may apply, provided they submit the final transcripts before joining Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya.
- The minimum accepted percentage for most programs is 50% at the 10+2 level. This is relaxed to 45% for ST and SC applicants. Some programs (e.g. BA + LLB) have general category cut-offs of 45%.

4. Sports Scholarship - International: Students who have been selected for and participated in any sports meet held outside India will be given a scholarship amount of INR 1 Lakh.
5. Merit Cum Means (MCM) Scholarship: Students from financially disadvantaged family backgrounds who maintain a semester aggregate of 60% or above are offered 100% tuition fee waivers. The award of the MCM scholarship is continued subject to the maintenance of a steady attendance of 75%, and a clean disciplinary record.
6. Mess Scholarship for Blind Students: All students suffering from total blindness who choose to stay in the GGU hostel will be given access to the free meal facility, and all their mess bills will be reimbursed by the hostel authorities.
7. Good Conduct Scholarship: The Dean of Student Welfare, at his/her discretion, may award INR 11,000 as a scholarship amount to a student who sets a good example to other members of the University community through an extraordinary achievement.
8. Students' Welfare Fund Scholarships: These are awarded to physically handicapped students. For example, INR 5,000 per year may be provided to blind students to purchase academic materials, in the form of a teaching aid scholarship. In addition, hand driven tricycles will be provided upon request to physically challenged students who maintain a good attendance and discipline record.
9. 100% freeships: Full tuition fee and living cost waivers are provided to students from various categories - for example, single girl children, wards of martyrs, and five poor children (awarded under the Vice Chancellor's discretionary scheme).
Students are also eligible for all the financial aid schemes listed on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), and for scholarships provided by private trusts. However, they ordinarily cannot avail of more than one scholarship from any source, unless both organizations allow it.
