GATE
A national entrance exam for engineering is conducted annually. GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is jointly organized by IISc Bangalore and seven IITs. IIT Madras will conduct the exam for the year 2027.

The full form of GATE is 'Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering'. It is a national-level examination jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (located in Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee). The exam is organized on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
