IES (UPSC ESE) Eligibility for the 2023 Exam
The candidate sitting in the exam must be : (a) an Indian citizen, (b) A Bhutanese subject, a Nepalese subject, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962.

As far as the eligibility is concerned, the candidate must be 21 years of age and not more than 30 years as of January 1, 2023. The candidate applying for UPSC must have been born between January 1993, and January 1, 2002.
What are the IES (UPSC ESE) Educational Qualifications Required for an Applicant?
- An applicant applying for the IES (UPSC ESE) must have an engineering degree from a recognized university.
- The candidate must have an engineering degree/ diploma from a foreign college/university/institution.
- Passed out from the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers Graduate Membership Examination (India).
- A candidate who has sat in the examination and qualified for it, but didn’t get any notification of the results, can apply for admission in UPSC.

What is the selection procedure for IES (UPSC ESE) 2023?
The IES selection is based on two stages:
Written Examination: It’s the first stage in the ESE/IES 2023 application process. Those who want to get selected, have to clear both IES Prelims and IES Mains exams. For the preliminary exam, General ability and Engineering subjects are two components. The only candidate who qualifies the paper 1 and paper 2 of the preliminary exam, will sit in the IES Mains exam.
Personality Assessment by IES (Interview)
The candidate who qualifies for both prelims and mains will be invited to take part in the IES personality test. The personality interview round will be 200 points. After the applicant has cleared the personality test, his/her documents and eligibility will be tested.
