Overview

The Design Village (TDV) is a Delhi NCR-based private design college established in 2014 that offers UG and PG degree courses in design education. The institute is UGC-approved and affiliated with SVU. TDV provides students with a choice not to limit themselves in any particular field of design; at TDV, design is considered critical thinking, communication, collaboration, cultural awareness, relative leadership, and civic engagement. These skills help students realise their goals with design and help them realise these goals with the help of the progressive curriculum at TDV.

To provide better opportunities via every course, TDV has partnerships with renowned foreign and national universities like Boisbuchet, TuDelft, Shrimp Venkateshwara University and many more. These collaborations aim to expose students to great learning journeys that can help them come out flourished with global knowledge.

TDV organises meaningful faculty and student exchanges and maintains a strong focus on the real-world relevance and application of design. Admission Process

To secure admission under any degree course approved by UGC under TDV. The candidate needs to clear some screening tests that are included in the entrance exam. Before appearing for screening exams, candidates must fill up the application form available on the institute's official website. Following the submission of the application form, the following steps must be cleared:

  • Correlative quiz- This test tests the awareness level of an aspirant in the form of a kind of treasure hunt process.
  • Comprehensive test- To evaluate ideation, visual representation and potential of the candidate.
  • Question for taking position / justifying them- This is to evaluate values and priorities and represents innovative ideation on design thinking.
  • Creating thumbnail- This is to judge lateral thinking of students based on interpretation from most to least obvious and indicates the awareness of what is happening in the world.
  • Situation Test- Via this, the creativity and innovative skills of the candidate with respect to spontaneity is judged. Based on the model building of realistic yet hypothetical scenarios.
  • Personal interview and portfolio discussion- Here, a discussion is conducted between candidate and mentor about candidates aspirations, ideologies and opinions.

Upon clearing all these screens, the candidate is offered a seat in the desired course.

Results and Cut-off

TDV follows a specifically designed entrance test to assess an individual on various dimensions. It is branched out to multiple channels reflecting upon the intrinsic personality traits that a capable design curator must inherit. TDV, through its entrance test, welcomes students who are aware, compassionate, courageous and perseverant as these are vital qualities for being a good designer of the future. Before applying, the required eligibility is that the candidate must have passed their higher secondary education from any recognized board.

Once the discussed criteria are fulfilled, and the screens are cleared, the candidate is offered his desired course seat(subject to availability). There is no minimum cut off marks required to get admission at TDV. However, candidates with scores higher than 50% are more likely to get admission.

Campus Facilities

The inspiring campus of TDV completely refrains from the design community's ecosystem. The creative TDV campus is a transformed version of a defunct factory that inspires design students to realize the possibilities of their careers. The campus possesses multiple interactive institutional spaces that attempt to break away from the traditional model of boxed classrooms to an idea of mixed ones. The campus also maintains specially built spaces for exhibitions, workshops, studios and labs. In addition, there are lecture theatres where guest lectures and industrial sessions are conducted. 

To facilitate proper learning, secure and comfortable hostels are strategically located in the heart of the campus. The rooms, common rooms and dining areas are Wi-Fi enabled with an interactive environment. The support staff is amiable and proactive. For the overall development of the students, along with nutritious food, the institute also organizes a lot of technical and non-technical events.
