With a motive to help poor people with the best medical facilities, St. John's Medical College was established in Bengaluru. The college was set up to train talented minds in health care. With this noble aim, the college was started in 1963 by The Catholic Bishops Conference of India. Continuously, the college has attained 5-star grading by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and the University Grants Commission.
The College offers varied courses for the aspirants, starting from Undergraduate course, Postgraduate, Super Specialty, Ph.D., fellowship, and elective courses. There are various departments in the college, it can be categorized as - Surgical Department, Medical Department, Pre & Paraclinical Department, Medical Department, and Diagnostic Services.

The St.John’s National college has an association of the Alumni which is nearby located at the St. John’s Medical College premises. All the SJMC students are entitled to be a part of the prestigious College association. The association works for the welfare of the students and lets them participate in various activities like CME’s tournaments, appreciation and felicitation, outreach programs, assisting and coordinating with alumni serving the rural areas.
Admission Process
Candidates who want to pursue MBBS from Karnataka can take admission to St. John’s Medical College. The college offers 150 seats. But, to apply to this college, the candidate must have a certificate from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Admission Procedure
- The candidates, who want to apply for the MBBS course, must appear in the NEET-UG examination. Apart from that, the student should have passed 12th from a recognized board with at least 50%.
- The students who want to apply for the postgraduate courses ( MD/MS) must have an official MBBS degree from a reputed college and must have applied on the NEET-UG official website.
- For taking admission to the MCH or DM courses, you have to obtain rank in the NEET-SS examination.
- Admission to St.John is based on the merit acquired in the entrance test.
- Those candidates, who have to apply for the Ph.D. courses, have to get at least 55% marks in M.Sc or MD degree.
