Overview

Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital is situated in the city of Chennai in Tamilnadu and was established in 2003 under the Bharat Institute of Higher Education and Research. The college has a total of 250 seats in MBBS and 163 seats in MD/MS/DM. The college offers various specializations in different disciplines, such as pre-clinical and clinical departments. With great faculty members and great laboratories at the college, students get a lot of opportunities to learn and perform well in their academics. Apart from that, the college's affiliation with the Bharat Institute of Higher Education and Research offers students the opportunity to explore much more than just the one college they got admitted into.

Students here have the chance to work in real-life situations in hospitals, as it is important for the practice of a student to get ready for a hospital after their academics. Proper guidance of specialized doctors makes them learn out-of-the-box things and perform better. The college has good infrastructure to hold the students for their MBBS and MD. Along with that, there are sports grounds, a central library, and a student welfare scheme to help students in several conditions of emergency. 

Course Highlight

The college has several departments that offer various specializations, as mentioned below.

● The department of Pre and Para-Clinical offers MBBS and MD in several specializations such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, and Community Medicine.

● The department of Clinical offers various specializations in General Medicine, Paediatrics, Tuberculosis & Respiratory, DVL, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopaedics , ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Anaesthesiology, Radiodiagnosis, and Dentistry.

● The college holds super specialties in cardiology, neurology, neurosurgery, and urology.

● The college also has an Educational & Technology section that offers Medical Educational Units, Clinical Skill & Simulation, Infection Control, and IQAC.

Admission Process

The college does not offer direct admission, as the students have to go through the same process as government colleges, as mentioned below.

● Students have to ensure their eligibility to apply for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). 

● Students must have the educational background of science, which includes Physics , Chemistry, and Biology as their primary subjects in 10+2.

● The candidate must have qualified for the cutoff mark in NEET to proceed further.

● After securing under merit, one has to go through the counseling process and then choose this college to take admission.

● After preparing the merits, if the candidate has the percentage and percentile marks in the entrance test that makes them eligible for the college, they would get a call letter on their registered email address.

Results and Cutoff

The results and cutoff are different for both the MBBS and MD courses. For MBBS, one needs to be an intermediate pass out with at least 50%  marks in physics, chemistry, and biology/biotechnology. There is a relaxation of 10% marks for a candidate belonging to the scheduled caste, scheduled tribes or other backward classes. Physically handicapped students are given a relaxation of 5% marks. The students have to qualify for the NEET examination and secure a good rank to get admission.

For MD and MS, the candidate must have an MBBS degree from a recognized university and should have passed all the examinations. 

Placements

The college has its own hospital, which enables the students to gain practical knowledge of  things in the medical field. With such experience and the capability to deal with real-life situations, they are ready to work in any hospital in their specialized section. The students who have exceptional academic records are directly offered to work in the college hospital along with the other students also get offers from other hospitals. Some of them open their own hospital, dispensary or clinic.

Campus Facilities

The campus of Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital is located in Chennai, Tamilnadu and has a total area of 30+ acres. The major highlight of the college is the hospital, which is situated inside the college. The hospital is a place of practice for the students along with the experienced doctors.

The campus has an eye-catching infrastructure that includes the classroom, hostel, hospital, laboratory, etc. The central library has a sitting facility with an air-conditioning facility. The library is filled with a lot of books. Students have direct access to books, journals, and  research papers. Apart from books, the library also facilitates the students with digital and modern technology.

The college has a separate hostel facility for boys and girls. The rooms are spacious, with attached bathrooms, a lobby and meal service. A laundry service is also available for the students to help them with their academics. A mineral water facility is also available at the campus. The college also focuses on the physical and mental health of the students. There is a special arrangement for the gym where the students can do intense exercises for physical fitness. The sports ground is suitable for many sports activities that help them to achieve physical fitness with mental exercise.

The college also provides an ambulance service for any emergency situation that may occur on campus. Students are provided with better health facility.
