Overview

In 1833 William Bentick committee suggested a need for a medical college for youths, that’s why on 28th January 1835, The Medical College, Kolkata was established. The motive of the college is to train the native youths irrespective of any religion, region, or caste. Due to the establishment of this college, On the 10th of January, Medical Education Day is celebrated in West Bengal. 

To be different from other medical institutions, this institute came as the leader and provided higher training, safe patient care, exemplary medical education, innovations, and quality research via community collaboration. The objective of the institute is to build a high standard of medical education by providing UG, PG and super-specialized medical education. 

To deliver the best family care, excellent patient facility, and improve the health of the society in the urban and rural sector is the main motive of the institute.
