Overview
From 16th January 1957, Presidency Hospital is known as the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (PGMER). The institute was proudly inaugurated by the famous gem of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, then Prime Minister of India. Today the institute is contributing to the nation by giving the best medical education to the medical aspirants. The institute is known for its Speciality hospital and a Medical Learning Centre of Excellence.
Today this prestigious medical college is known for the hob of medical education. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and post-doctoral level medical courses, diplomas, specialist medical degrees, nursing courses at UG, PG, and Under school levels. The institute is called the Bethlehem of advanced medical research.
At present, the institute is converted into a Multi Speciality hospital by introducing new technology in various departments like the Natal department, Genomics, Human Milk Bank, Neuro Medicines, and School of Digestive and Liver Diseases.
