Chandigarh, one of the prettiest places in India has one of the leading hospitals, Govt. Medical College and Hospital. Govt Medical College & Hospital laid its foundation back in the year 1991. The foundation stone was laid by India’s former Prime Minister, Shri Chandra Shekhar. The medical institute is popularly known as GMCH. The Panjab University granted provisional affiliation to the institute in 1991 and after 8 years, in 1999, the institute got its permanent affiliation. In 1991, the institute’s first academic session was inaugurated by the Advisor to the Administrator of Chandigarh, Sh. Baleshwar Rai. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses to medical aspirants.

Admission Process
MBBS
- Aspirants need to apply and appear for the NEET-UG examination, which will be conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency).

- The higher authorities will prepare the list of shortlisted candidates, who have got their name on the merit list.
- Further, the candidates have to be a part of Chandigarh MBBS counseling for their final selection in the further admission process.
- Final admission in the MBBS course is based on students’ NEET merit marks, participation in the counseling procedure, documents, allotment, and fee payment.
MD/MS
- Candidates seeking admission in the GMCH MD/MS course have to apply and appear for the NEET PG examination, organized by NBE (National Board of Examination)
- Candidates must visit the official website of the institute and apply for the MD/MS course.
