Overview

The DJ Academy of Design (DJAD), Coimbatore, was set up in 2004 under GKD charity with the vision to become a globally competitive design school. The idea of its establishment came under the aegis of MR. Sanjay Jayavarthanavellu and PAR Kumar after they visited NID, Ahmedabad. Since its inception, the academy has catered to the needs of trained designers within the country significantly.

DJAD possesses the values of excellence, integrity, learning, and sharing, contributing to the industry and society at its core. The academy regularly conducts training programs, workshops, and seminars by industry experts from relevant design fields. This is done to address and engage with the student community and create design awareness.

The DJAD, Coimbatore, provides the students with 7 specialization courses under 4 streams of design, arts, animation, and mass communication and media under both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. All the courses are designed specifically to promote the learning of basic concepts of design for its students. Besides, the institute also provides its students with various opportunities in the form of internships, placements, and industrial visits to help them gain professional and practical experience in their field of study.

Admission Process

For securing a seat under any course of design offered by DJAD, the candidate needs to follow the below-described procedure:

• Visit the official website of the college and register on the admission portal
• Post registrations fill the online application form and pay the required fees.
• Upload the portfolio of work on the admission portal after payment of the application fees.
• The candidate is invited for an online or offline interview via SMS or mail.

During the personal interview, the design aptitude of the candidate is judged along with their sketching, creativity, and visualization skills. Besides, the work portfolio, including the work of the candidate, is also evaluated. Once the whole procedure of application and screening is completed without any hassle, the candidate is offered a seat in the desired course.

Result and Cut-off

A candidate is considered eligible for application under any undergraduate program offered by the academy if 

• The candidate is 10+2 pass from any stream with a minimum of 50% marks
• The candidate has not crossed 23 years of age as of 30th June of the year of application.

It is highly appreciated if your age is less than 23 years and has more than 50% marks in your 12th from any recognized board. This enhances the chances of your admission under the desired courses over other candidates. 

For admission under post-graduation course, the candidate must be above 20 years of age and have graduated from a 3 year UG program or possess a full-time diploma or degree of minimum 4-years in design/ fine arts/ applied arts/ architecture with an aggregate 50% in 10+2. Besides, the candidate is required to sit for a personal interview at DJAD, Coimbatore, where the work portfolio is evaluated. Based on the evaluation of the portfolio and the personal interview, the candidate is later notified if a seat under the desired course is offered or not.

The academy provides its students with hostel facilities separately for boys and girls with a working, hygienic canteen and mess.
