National Institute of Technology Patna is the 18th National Institute of Technology which is located in Patna Bihar. It was renamed as NIT Patna on 28 Jan 2004 by the Central Government. NIT Patna started its humble beginnings in 1886. This Institution is also declared as an Institute of National Importance and as a Center of Excellence. NIT Patna is an institute that functions directly under the Central Government. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI, controls this Institution. NIT Patna institute is known for setting out very high educational standards. It also holds a long record of academic excellence. This institution has witnessed remarkable growth and touched new heights by imparting high-quality education and values.

Course Highlights

NIFT Patna offers B.Arch at UG level and M.Arch at PG level. The duration of UG programs- B.Arch is offered by NIFT Patna is five years via regular mode. And PG programs like - M. Arch are of the duration of two years. Furthermore, for B.Arch admission, the scores of JEE Main papers 1 and 2 are required. The institute also accepts NATA scores for the selection of this program. The course is spread over 10 semesters including electives and course work and divided into practical, theory and project works. While for admission to the Ph.D. program candidates' selection will be done on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam. And for the final selection candidates will be appearing for the Screening Test which will be followed by an Interview held by the respective admissions committee. 

Admission Process

Candidates who qualify for the JEE Main exam which is conducted each year. A candidate after completing his higher secondary studies at the school level can sit for this exam. After clearing this entrance examination the candidates will be called for the institute's counseling seat allotment procedure. Choice of filling as per interest and registration for the same will be done on the scheduled dates as provided by the institute.

Several rounds of counseling are conducted to offer admission to this Institution. Seat allotment will be done on the basis of rank secured in JEE Mains entrance examination, availability of seats, and category of the interested applicants. 

Eligible candidates are allotted seats at NIT Patna and later they have to report on the scheduled date as per institute's guidelines, for document verification and further admission process. 

Furthermore, know that the selection to the NIT Patna for the B. Arch program is based on the entrance scores and counseling sessions. Candidates can appear in the counseling process through a valid JEE MAIN or NATA score. And for the final program candidates will be appearing in the six rounds of the JoSAA counseling process. 

Result and Cut off

The required cutoff for getting admission to the department of one's choice are announced on the Institute's website. Candidates who manage to score the cutoff marks or beyond it in the JEE MAIN Examination can get a seat at the desired department at this Institution. 

After the counseling session, several formalities are done in order to verify the documents. After document verification, a candidate can get himself/herself enrolled at this Institution. The Institute conducts an annual semester each year to evaluate the academic performance of a student. The results are posted online on the college website.

The campus placement cell of NIT Patna is one of the best among all the Architecture Colleges in India. About 90% guaranteed placements are recorded every year at NIT Patna. A number of leading companies offer jobs to deserving candidates at NIT Patna. On average, about 30 students out of 80 students from CSE get offered with Rs 10 lakh\annum salary package. The Placement department of NIT Patna is well versed, they often organize interactive sessions in order to guide the candidates for acing the interviews. Several summer camps, personality development sessions are being held at the campus months before the job interviews. Special care is being provided to each and every student. Placement to renowned companies for students of NIT Patna is the sole concern for the Placement management team of this coveted institute. Campus Facilities 

NIT Patna provides all of its students and employees with all the essentials. A fully equipped Wi-Fi campus ensures undisturbed 24*7 internet access throughout the whole campus. The campus has a gymnasium, basketball court, tennis court, cricket ground, etc. Annual sports tournaments for each sport are being held inside the college campus to encourage the extracurricular activities of the students. 

This sports event often prepares the students for the intercollegiate sports events which take place biannually. The sports team of NIT Patna is quite strong, it has bagged several medals in various intercollege sports tournaments. The healthy competitive atmosphere at this college is worth mentioning. The institute has a very well preserved and maintained library which has thousands upon thousands of books in various niches. 

A central library is present which has 150,000 books and 1,100 e-journals. This Institution has a computer center with 6 computer labs and two well-equipped virtual rooms which have audio-visual facilities such as a projector and interactive boards. Debate rooms, drama theater rooms, auditoriums are also present on the college campus. Interested candidates are always encouraged to participate in such co-curricular activities, as it is believed that participation in such activities other than studying helps to build a strong character in each and every student.
