Overview

IEC University is a private university situated in the city of Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, and was established in 2012 by the State Government of Himachal Pradesh and later recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university offers several courses in diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various schools like engineering, computer applications, basic sciences, law, journalism & mass communication, physical education, humanities and social sciences, pharmacy, business management and commerce, and many more.

The university believes in imparting practical knowledge to the students, for which they organize a number of seminars, guest lectures, and workshops where the top industrialists and the  teaching faculty from some renowned international universities give them exceptional knowledge about the subjects. The faculty members at the university are more than eligible as they have an exceptional set of knowledge in their recognized fields.

The university has a placement cell which organizes regular personality development classes for students, which include the practice of group discussion and mock interviews, along with aptitude tests, which boost the confidence of the students to participate in the campus placement drives. Students have many opportunities to start their professional career just after their academic session.

The campus of the university is in the beautiful location of Himachal Pradesh and offers facilities like hostels, libraries, labs, gyms, cafeterias, transportation, wi-fi campus, seminar halls, auditoriums, sports grounds and many more. IEC University is ranked 119th in all India and the 9th state university of Himachal Pradesh by the IIRF University Rankings 2023 among the best universities in India.

Course Highlights

The university offers a number of courses under different schools in various specializations. Some of them are mentioned below. 

• The School of Engineering offers courses like B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D in various specializations such as computer science engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, etc.
• The School of Basic Sciences offers courses like B.Sc, M.Sc, M.Phil, and Ph.D in various specializations like physics, chemistry, mathematics, medical, non-medical, and many more.
• The School of Humanities & Social Sciences offers courses like Diploma, BA, and MA in various specializations like political science, general, public administration, stenography, psychology, sociology, and many more.
• The School of Business Management and Commerce offers courses like B.Com, BBA, MBA, and Ph.D in various specializations.
• The School of Pharmacy offers courses like D.Pharma, B.Pharma, and Ph.D in various specializations like leet, ayurveda, allopathy, and pharmaceutical sciences.

Admission Process

The candidates need to follow the given process to get admission to the university.

• The candidates can apply for admission in both online and offline mode.
• In  offline mode, students need to fill in the form in handwritten mode and submit it to the university by postal service with the required documents.
• In online mode, the candidates need to register themselves on the official website of the university by their email ID.
• The candidates have to verify their email IDs through the verification link, which will be automatically generated after registering.
• The candidates need to fill in the application form with the required details and upload documents like marksheets and certificates of their previous academic records.
• The university will prepare a merit list of the selected candidates on the basis of their previous academic records and the rankings in the national and state level entrance examinations like JEE mains, Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET), CAT, MAT, etc.
• The selected candidates need to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.

Results and Cut off

Students with good academic records and high standing in the national and state level entrance exams have more chances to get admission to university. For an undergraduate program, the candidates need to pass 10+2 from a recognized board of education in India with at least 45% marks, and a relaxation of 5% mark is given to  reserve category students. For a master’s program, the students need to have an undergraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university in India. For M.Phil and Ph.D, the university requires a candidate to have passing certificates from UGC NET/JRF, SET, and other qualifying examinations.

Placement

The university offers campus placement drives for students in their final year, where a number of companies regularly visit the university for the process of recruitment. The university has more than 390 prominent recruitment partners that keep visiting the university for placement drives and other training activities like workshops and seminars. The major recruiters of the university are Expedia, HCL, HDFC Bank, HealthKart, IBM, Indian Navy, Infosys, JP Morgan, NDP, and many more.

Campus Facilities

The campus of the university is located in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, and spread over an area of more than 14 acres. The university offers several facilities like hostels, libraries, labs, transportation, sports grounds, auditorium, gyms, cafeterias, mess, and many more.

The library at the university has approximately 30,000 books and 100 journals and magazines, including academic books along with other general interest books. The library has a seating capacity of more than 200 students. The university has laboratories for each academic course offered here, and they are equipped with all the latest instruments that are needed for the practical's.

The auditorium at the university is a place where students enjoy the most because it hosts the annual function parties and the performing arts like singing, dancing, theater, painting, and many more. The students get a chance to explore themselves in other dimensions of academic life.

The sports grounds and gym facilities are also provided to the students for improvement in their physical fitness. The gym has the latest equipment that helps students perform different workouts. Cricket, football, volleyball, and other sports tournaments are held at the university to encourage students to participate in the sports events.

There are two hostel blocks at the university; the boys hostels are inside the campus and the girls hostel block is outside the campus. The mess service is also provided to the students and offers tasty and healthy food to the students. Several cafeterias at the university offer snacks and refreshments along with the food to the students.
