Overview

Guru Kashi University is a private state university which is situated in Talawandi Sabo, Punjab, and was established in 2011, although the university has been operating since 1998 as a polytechnic school and later the other disciplines were added to it and it was turned into a University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized university in 2011. The university offers admission to both national and international students at the university, which creates a global environment at the campus. The university offers residential facilities to all the students, which makes them share their culture and create a global ambiance.

The university offers more than 50 courses in diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various specializations such as basic science, humanities, paramedical science, pharmacy, engineering, commerce, management, physical education, education, law, computer applications, and many more. The faculty members at the university are well experienced and many have their doctoral degrees from the top universities in India and abroad, which authenticates their knowledge of the subjects. The students get academic assistance throughout the session, and the knowledge helps them in their professional career.

The university has several academic and industrial tie ups that help it organize a number of seminars, webinars, workshops, industrial visits, live training programs, and guest lectures that help the students learn different skills and about the industrial environments. The campus of the university is spread over an area of 75 acres and has all the facilities that are required for the smooth functioning of any educational organization. Guru Kashi University is ranked 96th in all India and the 5th state university of Punjab by the IIRF University Rankings 2023, among the top universities in India.

Course Highlights

The university offers various courses under different faculties in several specializations. Some of them are mentioned below.

• The Faculty of Engineering and Technology offers courses like Diploma, B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D in various specializations such as information technology, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science and engineering, electronics communication engineering, electrical engineering, and many more.
• The Faculty of Physical Education offers courses like Diploma, B.P.Ed, M.P.Ed, and Ph.D in various specializations such as physiotherapy, yoga therapy, physical education, and many more.
• The Faculty of Commerce and Management offers courses like Diploma, B.Sc, BBA, B.Com, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, and Ph.D in various specializations such as hospitality and hotel management, aviation management, finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, and many more.
• The Faculty of Basic Science and Humanities offers courses like Diploma, B.Lib, B.Sc, BA, M.Lib, M.Sc, MA, and Ph.D in various specializations such as library science, Punjabi, physics, chemistry, mathematics, history, sociology, Hindi, English, religion, political science, and many more.
• The Faculty of Pharmacy and Paramedical Sciences offers courses like D.Pharma, B.Pharma, B.Sc, and M.Pharma in various specializations such as medical laboratory technology, operation theater technology, health assistant, and many more.

Admission Process

The candidates have to follow the given procedure to get admission to the university.

• The candidates have an opportunity to apply for both online and offline application forms.
• The candidates need to visit the official website of the university to apply online.
• The candidates need to fill in the application form with the required personal details and upload the documents with their previous academic records along with their photographs and signatures.
• The candidates have to pay an application fee to submit the application form.
• The candidates have to appear in the entrance exams required by their desired courses.
• The university will call the students for the counseling which will include the group discussions and personal interviews along with the document verification.
• The students who fulfill all the eligibility criteria are given provisional admissions.
• The students have to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats in the desired course at the university.

Results and Cut off

The students are given admission to the university on the basis of their previous academic records and the cutoff mark in the entrance exams organized by the university or national level entrance examinations.

The university offers admission to the engineering courses on the basis of the marks scored by the students in the JEE Mains and Gate entrance examinations. For other courses, the university offers admission on a merit basis or conducts an entrance examination.

The students must fulfill the eligibility criteria to get admission to the desired courses. One has to pass the 10+2 or an equivalent level of examinations from a recognized board of education with at least 45% marks to get admission to an undergraduate course. For B.Sc, the students have to score at least 50% marks in 10+2. For a master's degree , one must have an undergraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university with at least 50% marks and 55% marks for an M.Sc program. For the doctoral programs, the students should have a postgraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university with at least 55% marks, and a relaxation of 5% is given to reserve category students. The university conducts an entrance examination followed by group discussion and a personal interview for admission to Ph.D programs.

The university has placement cells that operate for the smooth transition of students from academic to professional careers. The university has tie ups with over 200 industrial recruiters that offer internships and campus placement drives. The university organizes various programs like workshops, industrial visits, and guest lectures from  industrial experts for the students that help them in the campus placement drives. The personality development classes bring about an overall personality change in the students. The students have placed over 4,000 students in the past 10 years of its academic excellence. The major resources of the university are Honda, Royal Enfield, HCL, Larsen and Toubro, Infosys, Axis Bank, and many more.

Campus Facilities

The campus of the university is located in Talwandi Sabo, Punjab and spread over an area of 75 acres that has a lot of greenery and trees, which creates a peaceful environment for educational purposes. The campus has all the facilities like hostels, library, transportation, playgrounds, laboratories, cafeterias, mess, gym, auditorium, seminar halls, medical facilities, banking, ATM, and many more.

The hostels at the university are divided into various blocks on the basis of boys and girls. Both AC and Non-AC rooms are available at different hostel fees. There are various messes available in each block that offer healthy and tasty foods for the students and staff. The campus offers medical facilities for the students and has an ambulance facility for any emergency situation at the university.

The university offers transportation facilities, which include 36 buses that regularly operate all around the city within a radius of 50 km. The buses offer quick mobility for the students and staff all around the city. The playgrounds at the campus offer various sports facilities that promote the physical fitness of the students.

The library at the campus has a total of 54,000 books that include the academic books for each subject, journals, magazines, and research papers. The students can borrow the books for a limited period of time. The laboratories at the campus are responsible for the practical knowledge of the students and they are equipped with the latest equipment and have all the resources that are necessary for conducting practical's.
