Overview
The Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) is an active institution of higher education located on the outskirts of Ranchi. The current campus is in the town of Brambe, with a second permanent campus being constructed at Cheri Manatu. In addition to offering courses that are found in other Central Universities, CUJ has many research units that are relevant to the state culture of Jharkhand, including the Center for Indigenous Culture studies, the Center for Tribal Folklore, and the Center for Tribal Customary Law. Both campuses are sustainable and eco-friendly, in line with the principles of green architecture.
The Placement Cell of CU Jharkhand works with potential recruiters who can choose whether to approach a single Center for full term hiring or float open jobs to all Departments. In addition to corporate placements, the Cell also encourages budding entrepreneurs through its partnership with CUJ's Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship activities. The Placement Committee has representation from both students and professors, and works to create a fair policy to benefit all final year graduates.
Despite the Brambe campus essentially being a temporary location for CUJ, it still has world class sports facilities. For example, there are 3 different indoor gyms to cater to male students, female students, and staff members. There are also professional coaches for 8 sports, with indoor and outdoor courts and grounds to allow casual players and serious sports persons to follow their passions. The Sports Complex also has halls where yoga and martial arts can be practiced, leading to a perfect mix of mental and physical health.

Scholarships
As in other top Universities in India, there are multiple financial aid options available to students of the Central University of Jharkhand. The main public sector scholarship schemes are:
1. Central Government Scholarships: These are awarded either by the UGC or different Government Departments via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). There are multiple main scholarships under this umbrella, including the National Scholarship for SC students, the National Fellowship for Higher Education for ST students, the National Fellowship for OBC students, the National Fellowship for Students with Disabilities, the Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Single Girl Child, and the Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students. These financial aid schemes typically cover the full cost of tuition and provide a stipend to help with living costs.
2. Jharkhand Skill Development Mission (JSDM): The State Government offers multiple financial aid schemes to meritorious and disadvantaged students; one example of a professional fellowship is the JSDM, which provides funding for students who wish to take up internships in a State Government Department or allied public sector organization.
3. National Overseas Scholarship for students with disabilities: This Central Government scholarship provides funding to students with partial or total disabilities who wish to participate in an exchange program abroad or apply for higher studies after the completion of their UG or PG students at the Central University of Jharkhand.
4. Scholarships awarded by other State Governments: Students enrolled in a course at CUJ can apply to their home State Governments for post matric scholarships if they satisfy the eligibility conditions. For example, the Jammu and Kashmir Special Scholarship Scheme provides tuition fee support and a living stipend to students from the UT who satisfy the maximum family income conditions and qualify to join CU Jharkhand. The Uttar Pradesh State Government also assists its students in CUJ with financial aid schemes.
5. Digital India Scholarships: These are also offered by the Central Government; however, the difference between these and the scholarships listed on the NSP are that the University can directly register eligible students on the e-scholarship portal; selected students will then receive the funds for which they qualify via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. This allows for seamless and quick payments and a more streamlined application process.
As of 2024, 318 out of 1,340 students (24%) receive full tuition fee waivers from the Central and State Governments, 6 students (0.4%) receive full scholarships via University funds, and none currently receive full tuition fee scholarships from private bodies and Trusts.
