As one of the top Universities in India, the placement highlights of Assam University are as follows:
Unlike many other Central Universities, AU Silchar does not mandate qualifying examination cut-offs for admission to most of its UG and PG courses (with a few exceptions e.g. 50% UG aggregate for MCom applicants). However, PhD candidates usually require 55% in their Master’s degrees. All programs use CUET scores to admit students; however, there are no cut-offs announced based on the CUET UG or PG scores before the seat allocation process starts. The final cut-offs are determined at the end of the process, based on the CUET score of the last candidate admitted.
Assam University is home to 409 full time Faculty members. Of these, 222 (54%) are Assistant Professors, 85 (21%) are Associate Professors, and the remaining 102 (25%) are full Professors. Most Faculty members (384 out of 409, or 94%) hold PhD degrees. 379 Faculty members are regular employees, while the remaining 30 are employed on contract. Finally, the Professors are very seasoned, with the most senior having more than 44 years of experience in academia and industry.
In addition to the main Assam University Alumni Association, different Departments also have their own Alumni Cells active on social media. The first function that these organizations fulfill is to list recent graduates from every year, and ensure that the outreach is complete. They also update the databases of current places of work, in order to reach out to alumni for internships and placement assistance. Finally, the Alumni Associations also organize interactive sessions, seminars, and workshops with distinguished ex-students of the respective departments, and work to generate funds for developmental activities and scholarships through alumni fundraising drives. Graduates of the University are automatically enrolled in the AU Alumni Association.
