Overview

National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism is an Institute that provides higher education facilities in mass communication. It was established in 2007 by Vishwa Samvad Education Foundation. In India National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism was ranked 14th in 2019 among all mass communication colleges by Outlook India. The college was also ranked 31st among best mass communication colleges across the nation by India Today. The college offers professional courses, to both graduates and undergraduates. “Freedom of Expression” is the motto of this institution.

Academic Performance 

The National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism Ahmedabad offers courses like Bachelors in journalism and mass communication. And a post-graduate diploma in mass communication. The courses offered belong to the streams in mass communication and media. It also offers specialization in Electronic media, Film making, Print media, etc. The courses offered are full-time only. A student can dream for a bright future is at this college. Admission to this college happens based on merit. The institute offers scholarships to meritorious students. A student is allowed to get a 100% waiver on the college fees based on merit, but the 100% scholarship is offered only to SC or ST students. In addition to that, the government offers several scholarships that could help many students.

Initiatives

In the year 2010, MCM, or the “Media Convergence Meet” is a concept that was initiated by the institute to create an open platform for discussing and sharing the convergence of media domain. This platform is instrumental in bringing forward the figures and facts of the media field on to a public platform.

IMP, or the “Independent Mass Power” is a platform that was created for the students to bring out the common subjects of human interest and have a discussion. Along with the students of the institution, common citizens could also be a part of the debate and share their views. This discussion or debate is organized every Wednesday in the morning.

“Accendo” is a forum formed for the students of the institution to gain hands-on fieldwork experience in the media industry while they are still students. It was started in the year 2016 and it is an annual event. Here students work end-to-end from the creation of the concept to execution. Many students from various other institutes also participate in this event. Renowned professionals from different fields are invited for experience sharing.

The institute has an “Incubation Centre” that supports the graduates who want to indulge in starting up their own ventures.


Placement Highlights

The National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism Ahmedabad is famous for having a 100% placement record, which is one of the main attributes that attract most of the students. In 2019 the highest salary offered to a student from the institute was 4.8 lakhs per annum. The college offers jobs in advertising, news, journalism, broadcasting, event management, production, politics, public relations, and writing. The college is associated with several new channels in Gujarat. A few of these channels are ABP news, TV 9 Gujarat, CNBC TV 18, and Ahmedabad Mirror, etc.
