Overview

The Nirma University, Ahmedabad was established in 2003 but the Institute of Technology, Nirma University was established in 1995, which is a research-oriented, student-centric, multidisciplinary, not-for-profit state private university. Within a few years, the university has emerged as a nationally renowned higher education institution. The University and its integral institutes are highly ranked by various ranking agencies. It emphasises the all-round development of its students. The main aim of the university is to produce not only good professionals but also worthy citizens of the country, aiding in its overall progress and development.

Academic Performance

The University plays as a host to different institutes, departments, and centres, including the Institute of Management, Technology, Pharmacy, Science, Law, Architecture & Planning, Commerce, Department of Design, Centre for Continuing Education, Centre for Entrepreneurship, Centre for Advanced Instrumentation, Centre for Robotics and Automation, and Faculty of Doctoral Studies and Research. These institutions offer numerous undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes with a different interest in subjects and honours. Various certificate and diploma programmes are also offered at the university apart from the undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.

Research & Development

The university publishes a research report every fiscal year which mentions all the research activities that took place in that year. It carries out numerous research every year at each of its institutes at different levels. The University established the Directorate of Research and Innovation (DRI) to encourage research and innovation activities amongst the students and faculties. It works in deliberation with a University Core Committee and a National Advisory Committee. The stimulation of innovation, strengthening of doctoral research, and implementation of the research policy are the key goals of the DRI. The Directorate facilitates the overall research progress of the University, research orientation programmes, and faculty engagement through various schemes.

Placement Highlights 

The University provides full placement support to its students in different fields of Technology, Management, Law, Pharmacy, and Life Sciences. Nirma University is one of the most preferred campuses for job placements by leading organisations. It has corporate linkages with over 300 companies that conduct regular campus recruitment. In addition to providing placement support, the University also facilitates training of students in the organisations during summer and winter vacations. The average salary offered to the students is 6.8 lakhs per annum and the highest is 30 lakhs per annum. The list of recruiters includes ACC cement, Adani Group, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Limited, Ashok Leyland, Reliance Communication, Amul, Reserve Bank of India, etc.

  • Jay Shah a known personality of India is an alumnus of the Nirma University. He is the Secretary of BCCI and a businessman.
  • Minal Rohit, the known scientist behind Mangalyan is a Nirma alumnus. She is a scientist and a system engineer at ISRO.
  • Vijay Kothari a well-known researcher who has published many books was a student of Nirma University. His research interests include plant antimicrobial, complex, cell-sound interaction, etc.
  • Fenil Shah, the youngest chess player to represent the Indian team is an alumnus of the university. He won the Fide Title of International Master.
  • BoniSatani known for inbound marketing was a student of Nirma University who now works at Zestard Technologies.
