MCNUJC, or, the Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication is a public university in Bhopal. It is the first public university in India for journalism and mass communication. It was established in the year 1990 by Madhya Pradesh Government. The university is named after Makhanlal Chaturvedi, a freedom fighter and journalist. It is the first academic centre for journalism in the entire Asian subcontinent. MCNUJC develops professionals in Media, Communication, and Information Technology streams through traditional and modern methods of communication that are relevant to the current media needs. Most of the faculty members of the university hold a Ph. D. with a strong research contribution to the field. The courses offered on the campus are appreciated by academic scholars.
