Overview

RGPV, also known as the University of Technology of Madhya Pradesh is a public university established in the year 1998. It is a research university that offers courses at all levels. The university was set up by the government of Madhya Pradesh as a university for technical institutes in the state. The university was named after Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India. To spread quality technical education for producing globally competent and socially responsible, technically tempered individuals to meet global challenges is the vision of the university. Their mission is to bring up the university as a centre of excellence in imparting technical education for the development of the country. The campus has all sorts of modern technology on the premises. The campus of RGPV University is spread across 241.14 acres of land. The major campus consists of plains and a small part of it is located on hilly terrain. The campus is eco-friendly, as well as provides an atmosphere for learning. The university has an active student-cell, as well as an anti-ragging cell. RGPV is one of the best technical universities in India.

Academic Performance

The mode of instruction and other academic-related communication is conducted in the English language. The university offers undergraduate courses in various fields like engineering, technology, pharmacy, management, architecture, design, and applied sciences. Postgraduate courses are provided in Master of Technology (M. Tech.), Master of Science (M. Sc.), Master of Design (M. Des.), Master of Architecture (M. Arch.), Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm.), Master of Computer Applications (MCA) in the respective fields. Dual postgraduate courses are also offered on the campus like in Management (B.E. + MBA) or Technology (B.E. + M. Tech.). The collaborative program offered by the campus is a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Cyber Law and Information Security. An Integrated degree course too is offered on the campus, i.e., Master of Applied Management (MAM). Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) is also offered in all of the above departments. Degrees are honoured and meritorious students are presented with gold medals by the Honourable President of India during the annual convocation ceremony.

Research Program

The university has an active research centre. Faculty and students work hard for their findings. The research in the university aims towards the betterment of society. A new drug was discovered by the university which was a major breakthrough in cancer.

Placement Highlights 

RGPV has its separate career portal which caters to all the placement queries of the students. The average overall scale of all the courses is 3-4.5 LPA, with the highest being 12 LPA offered in the computer science engineering programme. All the programmes offered in RGPV have a good placement percentage, like in the computer science programme the percentage is 50%, in the electronics and communication engineering programme it is 54%, and in the mechanical engineering programme it is 73%.

The university accommodates many students and they all are spread across the world. Their contribution to society is remarkable. Individuals like Nikita Singh add to the fame of RGPV. Kailash Satyarthi an Indian activist who is working to eliminate child labour in India studied at this university. P.B. Sharma, the Vice-Chancellor of Amity University is an alumnus of RGPV.
