National Institute of Fashion Technology, NIFT

NIFT Bhopal is one of the recent additions to the existing countrywide campuses of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, one of the most prestigious fashion institutions in India. It started operating from 2008 June at its transit campus inside Bhoj University in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

The new permanent campus of NIFT Bhopal spread over 29 acres of land is situated at Bhouri near the airport, and is 5 Kms from the Habibganj railway station in Bhopal. The campus has a residential block with a capacity of 480 seats, of which 380 are for girls and 100 for boys. The construction of this campus is funded by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. It has a resource centre that holds books, national and international fashion and textile journals, periodicals, CDs, and a collection of textiles. It has 6 Design Labs – 1 weaving lab, 3 IT Labs, 1 CAD Lab, and 1 Tie and Dye Lab. The campus is connected by hi-speed Wi-Fi internet and sports one Video Conference Room. A mess and canteen, a stationery shop, a doctor or counsellor for medi-claim, and transport facilities are few other facilities provided to the residential students. The new campus is pretty well connected to every corner of the city through city buses and rickshaws. The institute campus is a strictly non-smoking zone.

NIFT, Bhopal offers UG programs, PG programs, and Continuing Education programs. There are two programmes of Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) in Textile Design and Fashion and Lifestyle Accessories, and one program of Master of Fashion Management on offer now. NIFT Bhopal shows-off its experienced and eminent faculty to facilitate the education of extra-ordinary quality ever since the centre commenced. The institute has been successful in establishing close contact with prominent personalities in the field of design, arts, and management. These personalities come as visiting faculties, and offer their valuable guidance to the students of the institute. In this short period of time, NIFT Bhopal has been successful in putting itself as a leader in the fashion education sector in the state of Madhya Pradesh by imparting unparalleled education, and by organising activities for its students that give them national-level exposure.

The location of the institute is an advantage for NIFT Bhopal. Due to this advantage, NIFT is well connected with the industry for workshops, training, interactions, and placements. The RIC Department at NIFT is engaged in the process of arranging graduation projects, internships, and the final placements for the students.
