Overview

It was realised by the professionals and academicians that the system of law teaching in India was thoroughly deficient and uninventive. With this knowledge, the National Law Institute University was established in the year 1997. It is one of the first three law colleges under the National law school. V. S. Rekhi was the director of NLIU. The institution is affiliated to UGC and the Bar Council of India. The academic programs were first launched in the year 1998. NLIU aims at becoming one of the best centers of legal education, training, and research all over the world. It wants to indulge in developing and nurturing the intellect towards bettering the nation and mankind by Law and Justice. The institution is here to contribute to the national development by placing a sense of responsibility among the students. And, also to cultivate the spirit of intellectual freedom, qualities of leadership, creativity, and clarity in its students.

Academic Performance

NLIU has been designing and delivering courses with a view to enrich the quality and capability of the students, faculty members, and other participants in avoiding and settling problems under the framework of the law. The campus offers graduation, post-graduation, and Doctoral degrees. The facilities within the campus ensure the growth of students. The Academic Block, the Auditorium, and the Gyan Mandir – which houses the Library, The Computer Lab, Faculty Rooms, Debating Halls, and classrooms are some of the features provided by the campus. The university’s sports facilities include a sports complex, and for relaxing there is a cafeteria within the premises. All these are to help and support the students mentally and physically.

Research Program

The institution has a serious focus set on the research area. They have doctoral courses offered within the campus. These scholars are guided by famous personalities and faculty members of the national law school. NLIU has published many research papers in various national and international journals. It has got its own journal where scholars can publish their articles. Through their research work, they try to find solutions for various cases under the frame of law.

Placement Highlights

The placement in this institute is done throughout the entire year and has pre-placement facilities and offers for the batch. As of the previous year’s records, out of 75 students 49 students are placed across several corporates at the highest package of INR 10,00,000 per annum. In the year 2018, there were 73 students in the batch, out of which 68 participated in the placement offers. The highest package offered in the year 2018 was INR 18,00,000 per annum. In the year 2019, there were 76 students in the batch, out of which 56 students participated in the placement drive. The highest package offered was at INR 16,00,000 per annum.

Some of the key companies that hired the maximum number of students over these periods of years are Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, Allen & Overy, Herbert Smith LLP, ICICI, WIPRO, Morgan Stanley, and many more. Along with this, there are many students who chose to write the Madhya Pradesh Judiciary Recruitment Exam and work for the Government of India.
