Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), also known as NIT Bhopal is one of the precious government colleges for engineering which was established in 1960. The objective of the institute was founded on the tenants of imparting knowledge and quality education in the diverse field of engineering and architecture. The mission of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) is to manufacture more and more professionals filled with logical thinking, competence, moral as well as ethical values and inner strength synced with the upcoming requirements in the global business so as to improvise and strengthen the national economy. The main vision of the institute is to develop into a global hub for technical as well as professional knowledge and wisdom.

Academic Performance

According to the NIRF rankings of 2020, the ranking of MANIT in the field of engineering is 65, and for architecture it is 15. The campus is spread across a total area of 650 acres of land. The campus includes the administrative and academic buildings, workshops, library, community center, shopping complex, a residential area for the students and the staff, a school, a dispensary, an auditorium, and a sports complex.

Courses offered by MANIT can be categorized into two main parts that are Undergraduate programmes and Postgraduate programmes. The UG courses include Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Material Science & Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, B.Arch and B.Planning. The courses available for P.G. programmes are M.Tech. in Engineering Materials, Stress and Vibration Analysis, Structural Engineering, etc.

The institute is invested in various research projects in the fields of Architecture and Planning, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and MME.

MANIT Bhopal has been having a record-breaking track when it comes to campus placements. Companies like SAP Labs, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Microsoft, BRAHMOS Airspace, Bajaj Auto, etc. have recruited a lot of students from the campus itself.

Notable Alumni

Ajit Pramod Kumar Jogi, the first chief minister of Chhattisgarh, did his Mechanical Engineering at MANIT, Bhopal. Naveen Polishetty, the Telugu and Hindi film actor and screenwriter completed his Civil Engineering from MANIT Bhopal. Suresh Pachouri, former union minister of state in the Ministry of Defence completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at MANIT Bhopal in 1983. RajiveVerma, a well-known film and TV actor holds a degree in Architecture from MANIT, Bhopal. Rambabu Kodali, Vice-Chancellor at Vellore Institute of Technology got his B.E. and M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from MANIT Bhopal. Santosh Choubey, the social entrepreneur, writer of Hindi literature, poet and educationist, who founded AISECT studied Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from MANIT Bhopal. Paul Shrivastava, known for Art and Sustainable Enterprise, and Crisis Management holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MANIT Bhopal. Hari Joshi the notable writer of modern Hindi literature who is known for his sharp satire got his Ph.D. in Refrigeration from MANIT, Bhopal.
