University of Engineering & Management (UEM) offers courses in the fields of technology, management, and engineering. Based in Kolkata, it is a private university administered by the education trust group, Institute of Engineering & Management. It is accredited ‘A’ by NAAC and affiliated with BCI, AIU, AICTE, and UGC. It was established in the year 2014. UEM was ranked by the NPTEL program amongst the top 10 Indian Institutes of technology, including NITs and IITs. It was rated Silver “A+++” by Just Careers magazine in 2011, 3rd amongst all government and private colleges in West Bengal.

The university provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses to its students, in fields of Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Biotechnology among others. There are departments for the courses of law, and hotel and hospitality management. It also provides certain combinations of degree programs that students can take up.

UEM aims to shape its students into the highest quality engineering and management graduates, dedicated and edge-cutting researchers, and innovation technologists by offering a learning atmosphere to students that help them grow and learn; with the target to create good citizens. UEM wishes to establish itself as a world-class centre of excellence in education and research, producing global leaders in science, technology, and management. Also, to create knowledge in frontier areas of national and global importance is one of their many goals. The campus has a library that is functional 24 hours and is stocked-up with various online databases, books, video lectures, journals, and reports. Students and faculty members can access the library at any time any day and from anywhere. There are sufficient computers and multimedia learning aids for students. IEEE Digital Library, Del Net Library, and J-Gate are some e-journal libraries that the university is subscribed to. The library has thousands of books and daily newspapers that students can read to keep themselves updated with all the current affairs and events. There are about 25 laboratories for the various departments to use.

The major research subjects in UEM include computer programming, automobile, and robotics. UEM organizes various workshops and seminars on the same. Some other subjects that the university provides motivation and workshops for are ethical hacking, android app development, and aircraft technology. By participating in national and international level research programs organized by the Ministry of Science & Technology like SPIE and Inspire, UEM boosts its students to keep the spirit of research high. Also to assist the students in preparing for competitive exams like GATE and/or developing skills, development programmes such as the Soft Skills Development Programme (SSDP) and the Higher Career Training Programme (HCTP) have been introduced.

Companies like Uniseven, BMWIL, Videotonics, Byju’s, Decathlon, Concentrix, Cognizant, Think & Learn, Turbot, Capital Numbers, Daffodil Software Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services, Ceasefire Industries, Sankalp Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd., Reliance industries, and Wipro offer placements to students of UEM, that maintains a 100% placement record.
