Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, MAKAUT

MAKAUT is a State University founded in the year 2001. It was earlier known as West Bengal University (WBU). Among the engineering colleges in the NIRF, the University was ranked 165 in 2019 and for the year 2020, it secured the 157th rank. MAKAUT is affiliated with UGC, AIU, and NAAC. NAAC awarded a “B+” grade to this University. It has a total of 6 schools offering different UG, PG, and Doctorate courses. Along with these, the state university has also started a new certificate and diploma courses. This is considered as one of the reputed colleges across the city.

The university offers undergraduate programmes in engineering, computer sciences, IT, bioinformatics, biotechnology, business administration, robotics and 3D printing, and postgraduate programmes in microbiology, molecular biology, food science & technology, clinical genetics, geoinformatics, and Ph.D. programmes. Besides this, it offers a diploma and many certified courses. For taking admission into B.Tech., B.Arch. and B.Pharm. degree courses, a candidate must secure qualifying marks in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. One needs to appear for the JEMAT exam for entry into MBA courses. For the undergraduate programme in Hotel Management and Catering Technology and MCA courses, one must appear for JELET and JEHOM exams respectively, conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Board. For M. Tech. and M. Pharm. programmes, the PGET exam marks are considered by the university. Eligible candidates can fill up the application form and submit it. Then the university prepares a merit list for all its courses. The academic history and performance of this institute are considered to be efficient by the students and alumni.

MAKAUT organises a five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) for its students, faculty, and research scholars. It also organises seminars and conferences at national as well as international levels on different disciples. The University provides its students with various projects and assignments to polish their knowledge and to prepare them for the real world. All the schools under this University are well-equipped with modern-day labs and provide all the facilities to the students to explore and grow in their fields.

MAKAUT has a well-established training and placement cell that works efficiently to get every student placed. MAKAUT also has an online placement portal for internship and job opportunities. It invites many reputed recruiters every year for providing internship and job opportunities to the eligible students. The placement cell not only provides for jobs but also polishes the communication and leadership skills of its students.
