ICSI was formed on October 4, 1968, which is 58 years ago, constituted under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980, and the headquarters of this institution is based in New Delhi. The Company Secretary course was introduced in the year 1960 by the Company Law Board. The ICSI took over the Company Law Board in 1968 to conduct the exam. For becoming a Company Secretary in our country, a person must become an Associate Member of the ICSI. Anyone who wants to be a member would only become eligible if they pass all three levels of examinations conducted by this institution. The three levels of the examination conducted by this institution are CSEET which is the earlier Foundation, Executive, and then the Professional examination. Then the candidate if declared “Pass” has to undergo a Short term and a Long term practical training for about four months.
