Overview

Established in the year 1964, CSIR-IMMT or Institute of Mineral and Material Technology is situated in Odisha and the institute gained the status of being a University under AICTE which is the All India Council for Technical Education. The institute first began as a Regional Research Lab in the city of Bhubaneswar and was present under the aegis of CSIR or Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. In the year 2007, it was renamed with its current name and mainly focused on research and making growth strategies to become the best in the area of mineral and material engineering. Spread across 150 acres, the institute has expertise in developing research and programs which are oriented around technology.

The institute has a wide range of offers for people wanting to pursue various engineering and science doctoral courses. The aim of the institute is to provide and promote the development of science. The infrastructure of the institution consists of all the necessary facilities to provide the best experience to students starting from UG, that is, Under-Graduate to the Ph.D. students. The university is a private institution and the current chairman is Dr. R. N. Patra. In today’s date, CSIR-IMMT is one of the first choices of various mineral-based industries and continues to grow and become the best.

Courses Offered

The university offers doctoral degrees for two courses, engineering and science. Under the category of engineering, the areas which are available for Ph.D. are:

For entering the category of engineering, the eligibility criteria for a candidate is that they have to possess an M. Tech. degree from a recognized board/ university in India with any of the streams mentioned below:

The candidates who wish to enter the institute need to appear or have a fellowship of CSIR-SRF or have completed their B. Tech from a recognized institute and have achieved good grades when they attended GATE examination

After completion of the doctoral degree, that is, Ph.D., a candidate can apply for various positions in Academics, further research, or Government jobs.
