Overview

Established in the year 1981 by the Government of Odisha and approved by AICTE, the CET or College of Engineering and Technology – Bhubaneswar is an institute affiliated to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela. CET is located at Kalinga Nagar, Bhubaneswar, the capital city of the state of Odisha. The college offers various courses such as B. Tech, M. Tech, M. C. A., M. Plan, B.Sc. and M.Sc., B. Arch and M. Arch. The campus has been established spread across 100 acres of land.CET Bhubaneswar is accredited Grade A by the NAAC and takes under about 1,400 students annually.

Academic Performance

This college is considered to be amongst the top engineering colleges in the state of Odisha. It conducts seminars, workshops, programmes sponsored by ISTE, training programs, and other short-term courses. All of these things are done to motivate students, teachers, lecturers, and staff to give their best and help the institute to grow.

Besides this, the college also focuses on developing the personality of the students and improve their communication skills. Furthermore, they participate in various projects throughout the semester that are conducted by the staff and lecturers. Throughout the entire curriculum, students can also improve their technical knowledge by attending workshops and training programs. Also, the college focuses on emphasizing on a course credit system, which is a 10-point grading system on which students are assessed.

Undergraduate courses offered by the College of Engineering and Technology are only in B. Tech, Bachelor of Architecture, and Bachelor in Planning, all of which are for a duration of 4 years. Under B. Tech, there are a total of 9 specializations, which are:

Courses Offered

The courses are offered under M. Tech., MCA, M.Sc., M. Architecture, M. Planning. are for a duration of two years and MCA is a 3 year course. Under M. Tech., a total of 16 specializations are given in CET.

The point to remember is that for B. Tech. and B. Architecture, the qualifying entrance exam is JEE Main, and the admissions for M. Tech., MCA, M. Sc., M. Architecture and M. Planning are done through GATE and OJEE entrance examinations.

After completing the course, candidates attend placement drives wherein companies like Accenture, Tata Advanced System, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, Bosch, Godrej, Tata Sponge Iron Limited, Hash works, Now floats, and many more select the best fit for their companies. Students also get to interact and choose from other companies like Gupta Power, JK Paper, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd., ADP, MU-Sigma, etc.

Sona Mohapatra is a famous Indian singer, songwriter, and music composer. She completed her B. Tech engineering degree from CET, Bhubaneswar in Instrumentation & Electronics Engineering. She has gained accolades in the world of music through her songs.

Sujata Biswas has gained prominence for her role in reviving and promoting Indian traditional handloom clothing in this day and age. She is a B. Tech graduate from CET in Information Systems and after a successful stint in the corporate world, she started her own business based out of Mumbai and in 2019 she was also awarded at the ‘Bombay Times She Unlimited Entrepreneur Awards’ for her contribution in the field of handloom textile promotion and the success of her business model.
