Overview

To cater to the need for an engineering institution in Lucknow, the Institute of Engineering & Technology, or IET was established, in the year 1984 by the government of Uttar Pradesh. The institution has been imparting engineering knowledge since its establishment and promoting technological research to create eligible manpower for the country. The vision is to produce world-class manpower and to make a technology-driven economic development that will increase the quality of life of the citizens. This institution comes under Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University and ranks at the top among all other institutions of the university. It is a society governed institute and funded by the government of Uttar Pradesh.

Academic Performance 

The institute has a fully residential campus of approximately 100 acres. The institute has eight academic departments such as Computer Science & Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Business Administration.

The institute offers B. Tech. and M.C.A., M.B.A., and M. Tech. programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels respectively. The B. Tech. program is offered with eight different specializations and the M. Tech. is offered under two specializations. The candidates must ensure that they fulfill the minimum educational qualification defined by the institute.

Research & Development

IET has various ongoing and completed projects which are funded by some government organizations and some private. Some such projects are Security and Surveillance Robot funded by TEQIP-3, Study of ULF/VLF electromagnetic precursors of earthquakes funded by the Government of India, Delhi, etc. IET has published numerous books to date which include Artificial Intelligence and Biotechnology: The golden age of Medical Research, Basic Electrical Engineering, Laser Systems & Applications, Fundamental of Electrical Engineering, Fundamental of Electrical Engineering, 2nd edition, etc. It has a patent in its name by a faculty member. Other than all these projects, research and publications of IET organize various seminars and workshops for the students.

Placement Highlights

IET has some extraordinary talent as a by-product of its selective UPSEE exam and the acceptance rate is less than 0.32%. The students strive for fineness and have been constantly upholding excellent results in academics, co-curricular activities, placement records, and competitions of National importance. Approximately 60 % of students get placed every year. Many reputed companies like TCS, TCI, Wipro, Mahindra, etc. visit the campus every year. The highest package is 8 lakhs per annum and the minimum package is 3 lakhs per annum in the previous year. The top recruiters include Global Logic, Heidelberg Cement, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Consultancy Services, Amperes Energy Solutions, Jaro Education, Tata Chemicals Limited, etc.

Notable alumni 

  • Srijan Pal Singh, an Indian author better known for having been the advisor to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is a student of IET Lucknow. He runs the A.P.J. Abdul Kalam centre where he works as the CEO. He completed his graduation degree from IET in Electrical Engineering.
  • RuchitaMisra, the Indian writer is an alumnus of IET-Lucknow. She has many bestsellers like ‘someone to love’, ‘second chance at love’ etc.
  • Nikhil Pratap, a writer and a published author of the book “Awaken a Gladiator” is an alumnus of IET-Lucknow.
  • Bhupendra Kumar Pal, known for eBiz is an alumnus of IET-Lucknow. He was the youngest millionaire at the age of 24. He is an entrepreneur.
