Indian Institute of Health Management Research

The Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR), Jaipur came into existence in the year 1984 and was earlier known as the Institute of Health Management Research. The institute provides quality education in health management and hospital management. IIHMR contributes to both research as well as education in the management of health services to achieve a name in health management, planning, and research at both the national and international levels. The institute is appreciated for its contribution to improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of health care. It offers courses in PG and Ph.D. levels for various streams related to Public Health. IIHMR has 3 schools as Institute of Health Management Research, School of Pharmaceutical Management, and School of Development Studies. IIHMR is accredited by NAAC.

The institute offers a total of 26 courses to its students. These include PG and research programmes with specialisations that are all related to the health management field. It also provides specialized MBA courses in public health, rural development, and health and hospital management. A Master of Public Health programme is also provided. Many research programmes with multiple specialisations are provided by the institute. There are four specialisations that are provided by IIHMR – Jaipur namely, rural development, public health, health & hospital management, and pharmaceutical management. Three of its specialisations with the MBA programme are shared by the research programme.

IIHMR is known for being a research-oriented institution for higher education. It handles over 800 research projects in the healthcare sector. The institute has also been involved in studies related to health policies and programs at National and International levels. Some of the areas of research undertaken by IIHMR University in Jaipur are human resource and training, reproductive health, health economics and financing, health systems, maternal and child health, health management information system, communication behaviour, national health policy, and many more. The State Governments and the Central Government of India have a major contribution to funding these studies. The institute’s study on Health Systems and Technical Support to the Ministry of Health, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, helped boost the country’s healthcare system as well.

The institute has a separate placement cell where student representatives from all the streams play an important role. It provides mandatory internships to prepare students for the outside industries. The students get over 26 training sessions to prepare them with impressive projects that could help them get their dream jobs. The top companies in the industry, namely, Lintac Solutions, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Reliance Foundation, Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd., Novartis, Aditya Birla Group, Max Healthcare, and Smartcube Analytic Solutions are the recruiters.
