Overview

A branch of University of Delhi, the Faculty of Management Studies began in 1954 led by Professor A. Dasgupta offering a three-year post-graduate management programme to the executives. FMS doesn’t only focus on business management but management education as a whole. FMS is privileged enough to be a part of University of Delhi the most reputed in the country. The main objective was to provide the best business models and tool to the Indian managers to increase their efficiency and productivity so that they can excel in different sectors.

Academic Performance

In the beginning, FMS provided a three-year post-graduate management programme which was part-time in business administration. The programme was designed for middle and senior-level executives. The first batch of professors was trained at the Stanford Business School which was started at Delhi School of Economics. At present, they provide a full-time MBA programme, an MBA-executive and MBA-executive HCA both being an evening programme, a management development programme and a doctoral programme. The growth of FMS was immense in the past decade with various exchange programmes, they have collaborated with various leading business schools and professional associations in India and abroad.

Research & Development

A research and development wing named ‘Shanti Prasad Jain Advanced Management Research centre’ has been set up at the south campus of the University of Delhi of FMS by getting the assistance from a company named Bennett Coleman and company ltd. The method of study combines case studies, instrumental feedbacks and fieldworks which focuses on the concepts and theory.

Placement Highlights

The placement sector is divide into two parts the lateral and the final placement process. FMS provides its students with various placement opportunities and they have nearly a 100% placement. A special placement holiday option is also there for the students where they give them a chance to explore their own ventures and can participate in the placement process up to two years. Last year 198 students appeared for placement and all of them got placed. The highest domestic CTC stood at INR 48 LPA and the average of top 100 at INR 27 LPA. 68% offers were above INR 20 LPA. Renowned companies like Amazon, Adani, Airtel, Amway, Hero, Pepsi Co., Coca Cola, Samsung, Paytm etc came for recruitment.

Notable Alumni

The recipient of Indian Telly Award for Lifetime Contribution to Indian Television Raghav Bahl is an alumnus of FMS, he is a notable businessman of India having past partnerships with various television channels like TV18 India. The Managing Director and CEO of Tata Sky, Harit Nagpal has a degree from FMS. Actress, model Anupama Verma is a famous FMS alumnus. She also appeared in Big Boss as a contestant in 2006. The highest-scoring individual of the UPSC exams in the year 2014 Ira Singhal has also studied in FMS. She is an IAS officer. A corporate executive in the telecom business Sandip Das who serves at Analysys Mason as a senior advisor also has a FMS background. He is also a member advisory board of Sterlite Technologies. Screen Award for Most Promising Debut Director nominee Sandeep A. Varma known for Manjunath is an FMS alumnus. He is currently working in the industry as a director and writer.
