Jai Hind College

Jai Hind is a public education institution established in the year 1948. It is affiliated with University of Mumbai and presented by autonomous status. Jai Hind is one of the reputed colleges in our Country. With their motto, I will and I can the students and faculty put forth an excellent result. The college aims to move beyond the conventional style of academic programs. From Ravish Desai, Seema Rao to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan many notable alumni were presented to the society. Jai Hind offers graduation, post-graduation and B. VOC courses. The famous Indian Journal, India Today, placed Jai Hind as one of the best college in Mumbai city. The college is also known for their annual fests held in various names. The college and management look for the overall development of students and staff. The college has a friendly atmosphere to enhance effective learning.

Various courses offered by the college can stand up with courses given by other leading colleges. Jai Hind began as an Arts and Science college. After a while other courses were added up by the institution. In the year 1980 commerce was introduced. In 1999 Management and Computer science stream were in action. Faculty of Mass media and Biotechnology were introduced in 2002. In 2003 they come up with Banking and Insurance. Presently they offer a course in Big Data analytic charged by TCS.

The college campus is ample with resources that support the academic performance of students. They have access to all modern-day techniques like physics lab, biology lab and psychology lab. The library within the college act as a central library to the college. Currently, the library is using the 23rd edition of DDC. It also have access to NLIST. With their motto staff and students believe that everything is possible and the sky is their only limit.

Over a period of time, the Science Department has expanded a lot, offering new programs, to keep along with global trends. The Science Departments aims at adding up a scientific temper which is amongst its students that is by providing a great exposure through various seminars, workshops as well as visits to Research and Development institutions.

Padma Shri Sunil Dutt, the actor, director, producer and politician did his under-graduation studies from Jai Hind College. Padma Shri Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Miss World 1994 and an actress by profession did her intermediate schooling at Jai Hind College for one year. Vijaya Kamlesh Tahilramani, the former Chief Justice of the Madras High Court is an alumna of Jai Hind College. of Kunal Kamra, the observational comedian known for his political comedy joined Jai Hind College for a degree in Commerce, but dropped out in the second year to start working as a Production Assistant in Prasoon Pandey’s advertisement film production company. John Abraham, the former model, actor and producer did his under-graduation studies from Jai Hind College. Forbes 30 under 30 Trisha Shetty, an activist for Gender Equality and the founder of SheSays finished her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Psychology from Jai Hind College. Chanda Kochar, who went on to set a bad example at a later stage, the former CEO and Managing Director of ICICI Bank, completed her Bachelor’s in Commerce Degree from Jai Hind College in 1982.
