Overview

S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, SPJIMR is a private B-School, a subsidiary of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan which was inaugurated by Margaret Thatcher, the English Prime Minister, in 1981. SPJIMR is spread over a 45-acre campus in the western suburbs of Andheri in Mumbai. Every year approximately700 students get admission under various educational programs with the Post Graduate Diploma in Management being the institution’s oldest offered course.

Academic Performance

SPJIMR offers several postgraduate full-time programs, such as the Family Managed Business Program, the Executive Management Programme, and the global Management Programme. There are also short-term programs such as the Start Your Business Programme, the Grow Your Business Programme, and several Management Development Programs.

The institute offers more than 15 courses under different categories. Some of the courses are also approved by the Association of MBAs UK. The nature of these courses is either full or part-time or some are offered in online mode. The duration of SPJIMR programs differs from course-to-course.

The teaching-learning process at SPJIMR is enriched by a series of non-classroom initiatives, imbibed through a flexible as well as versatile curriculum. The institute encourages the development of a co-operative outlook by experiential learning and ensuring practical. Apart from regular classes, the institute also initiates Non-Classroom Learning (NCL) in three distinct levels, including Societal Awareness, Self-Management andSelf-Awareness.

SPJIMR administers its innovative schemes and programmes through committed Centers of Excellence. One such kind of distinguished Centre of Excellence is the Centre for Education in the Social Sector. CEdSScame into existence in 2009 with a directive to reach out to the sections of the society that are usually not served by the Business Schools of today.

Placement Highlights

SPJIMR has successfully closed its 2020 placements for the PGDM program. A wide range of new companies visited the institute during the current year’s placements. ‘E-Commerce’ was highlighted as a dynamic sector with the highest growth in offers made as compared to the previous years. There’s also a rolling placement system for PGPM which is followed for four months, that is from September to December, every year.

Notable Alumni

The Executive Director of Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. Rajesh Jejurikar is an alumnus of the S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai. Siddharth Suryanarayan, the actor from Rang De Basanti and Bommarillu, completed his MBA from SPJIMR. Girish Wagh, one of the key individuals in the Tata Nano project, did a post-graduate diploma in manufacturing from SPJIMR. Anant Bajaj, the former managing director of Bajaj Electronics has a Post-graduate Diploma from SPJIMR. Madan Pakadi, co-founder director of Sylvant Advisors, got his MBA from SPJIMR. Pradeep Kar, the Founder, M.D. and Chairman of Microland, received his MBA from SPJIMR. Dipankar Bhattacharjee, the Badminton player from Assam, is an MBA graduate from S. P. Jain Institute. Shaleen Rakesh, a queer poet, an important part of the more than 20years long Gender and Sexuality Movement in India, studied Business from SPJIMR.
