Overview

The University of Rajasthan is the oldest higher learning institution in the state of Rajasthan. It was founded on 8th January 1947. The University Of Rajasthan is accredited A++ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is recognized by the UGC. Currently, the University of Rajasthan has six consequent colleges and more than hundreds of affiliate colleges. The University’s journey started as the Rajputana University, and later on, it was named the University of Rajasthan in 1956. The University of Rajasthan has two campuses: the central campus and a satellite campus. The central campus is for college students, whereas the satellite campuses consist of students from constituent colleges.

Academic Performance

The University caters to several undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Currently, the University Of Rajasthan has 534 affiliated colleges. And out of the six constituent colleges, four colleges have elevated to the Common Professional Examination (CPE) status. UGC has awarded the three departments (Philosophy, Chemistry, and Zoology) of the University Of Rajasthan as the center of advanced studies. The Department of Economics and Physics have completed the Data Structure and Algorithm (DSA). The five departments – Mathematics, Sociology, Botany, Geology, and Home Science are running the Direct Registration System (DRS) programs. The department of Science and Technology has recognized the University Of Rajasthan under the ‘Promotion of the University Research and Science Excellence’ (PURSE) Program.

University Of Rajasthan, Ranking And Awards

Currently, the University Of Rajasthan is ranked 13th at the national level. According to the DST evaluation based on the h-index, the University Of Rajasthan is ranked in the top 150 in the NRF 2018 university rankings. The University of Rajasthan was recognized as one of the top Indian universities that have the potential for excellence in 2012. The ASC human resource department of the Rajasthan University was ranked second nationally by NAAC in2012.

Placements

The University of Rajasthan is part of the central placement cell (CPC) at the student advisor bureau. The sole purpose of this cell is to provide postgraduates with employment. The cell offers one-month long training programs to help their students build a career-based personality, provide adequate counseling, and the necessary skills needed in the current market. One month’s training is divided into small parts with 3 hours of training class per day. The University tries its best to give its students the best placement with the best companies visiting the campus. The Rajasthan university recruiters also select promising candidates who are capable of becoming teachers in the same University.

Notable Alumni

  • Dr. Vibhuti Bhushan Sharma is one of the University of Rajasthan alumni, who became the youngest president elected for the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, Jaipur. He is also an additional advocate general for the government of Rajasthan.
  • Durga Prasad Sharma, better known as D.P. Sharma, has completed all his higher education at the University of Rajasthan. Being a specially challenged person himself, he developed a job search engine for people with disabilities, which was later adopted by the Government of India.
