Overview

Consistently ranked among the top 5 law schools in the country Symbiosis Law School, Pune was established in 1977 under the aegis of Dr. SB Mujumdar, President and Founder Director of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). The Vision and Mission of SLS, Pune follow those of SIU. The vision of the university is to promote “international understanding through quality education.” The mission of SIU includes among other things, lofty principles of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', contribution towards knowledge generation and diffusion, impart 'ethical and value-based learning', enhance employability along with global competence, promote the spirit of national development, encourage cross cultural sensitivities, etc.   

Academic Performance

Initially Symbiosis Law School, Pune was affiliated with the University of Pune. In 2002 it became a part of the Symbiosis International University. Many ranking agencies like the India Today Nielsen Survey ranked the institute as one of the 10 best law schools. The Bar Council of India recognized it with the Gold Star Award in 2013. For its innovative and dynamic experiments with education, the institute has reached many milestones. The syllabus and teaching methods combine skill, knowledge, and values ​​and follow to a large extent the recommendation of the Carnegie Report, USA. It partners with the Erasmus Mundus consortium's global network of legal institutes.It has collaborations with various bodies of national and international educational institutes.       

Courses Offered

The programs offered are the 5-year integrated undergraduate programs BA, BBA, LL. B. (Hons.), 3 year LL. B., 1 year LL. M., and 16 different Diplomas and 19 Certificate Programs, and Ph. D. Programs. The regular student strength is 1955, of which, 786 are for BBA, LL. B., 853 are for BA, LL. B., 198 are for LL. B., 73 are for LL. M. and 45 are for diploma.

Admission Procedure

Candidates seeking admission to Symbiosis Law School, Pune need to apply online for their desired course along with the payment of required application fees. Admission to BA, LL. B. and BBA, LL. B. program is based on the merit list of Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) and admission to LL. M. and LL B. is based on the merit list of the All India Admission Test (AIAT). Admission to other courses offered by this institute is based on merit.

Ranking

The Symbiosis Law School is ranked 1st among all the law schools of India by IIRF  (Indian Institutional Ranking Framework 2024) center for institutional ranking.

Research & Development 

The R & D policy of SLS, Pune encourages the students to participate in workshops, symposiums, seminars, and various national and international conferences to enhance their knowledge, broaden their vision, and discuss new research ideas and outcomes. Moot court is held so that the students get to build their skills. Well equipped library, online resources, wifi connectivity, reading hall, publishing of journals, publication of research papers, etc. are encouraged to research. Faculty Development Programs are organized to keep the faculty updated. Research awards and certification are given to students and faculty. Academic honesty and ethics have been given utmost importance and with it, care is taken to avoid plagiarism in research.

The principal body of Symbiosis Law School, Pune entrusted the career and professional development cell for the management and conduction of recruitment in the campus. To ensure the development process of growth-oriented students, they provide various opportunities to them. To be the best in leadership skill, professional skill as well as in managerial skill, the cell chisels and grooms the students. They invite various reputed companies for campus recruitment and interview.

The Career and Professional Development Cell works with the students throughout the academic year to discover their area of ​​interest and to train and groom them and arrange internship programs.
