Puducherry Technological University (PTU) is the first state University of Union Territory of Puducherry. PTU is also known as Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) is known for promoting Quality and professionalism in higher education, the Institute is driven by purpose towards empowering the students coming from weaker sections of society. The institute is fully funded by the Government of Puducherry. The College was started way back in 1984 under the VII Five Year Plan. It is an autonomous Institution for the purposes of administration, staff recruitment and College development and is managed by a Board of Governors. The College is affiliated to Pondicherry University.
