Overview
National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur is a public technical university situated in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is one of the thirty NITs in India which is funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. NIT Hamirpur offers an extensive course curriculum for Undergraduate, Graduate, Postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. These programs are related to various fields including Architecture. This Institution was established in 1986 as the Regional Engineering College, Hamirpur in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. This University was formed by the joint efforts of the Government of India and the State government of Himachal Pradesh. The architecture department is one of the newest additions to the college as it was established in the year 2000. On June 26, 2020, this institution was awarded the status of deemed University, and later on, it was upgraded to the National University of Technology. Later on, it was awarded the status of Institute of National Importance by a Parliamentary Act along with other NITs and IITs.

M. Arch | ● NIT Hamirpur offers the M.Arch program for a duration of a minimum of 2 years via regular mode only. ● Students must have a bachelor's degree (preferably B.Arch) from any recognized university/college. ● Students must have scored at least 6.5 CGPA on the 10-point scale of CGPA or 60% marks in aggregate in their graduation. ● The selections to the M.Arch program at NIT Hamirpur are made focusing on the rank secured by the GATE entrance examination. |

National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh has ranked 60 among all the Colleges in India. Department of Architecture, NIT - Hamirpur bagged the rank of 9 among all the Architecture Colleges of India.
● Scholarships are being provided here with a 100% waiver in tuition fees for SC\ST\PH students and General along with OBC whose family income is less than Rs 1 lakh\annum.
● Two-thirds of the total tuition fees for the OBCs and General students is waived off if such students' family income lies between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per annum.
● Various scholarship programs like Coal India Scholarship Scheme, Indian Oil Education Scholarship Scheme, LANCO-Scholarship, etc are also being facilitated for the needy students.
● Architects can work in the sectors of construction, urban planning, urban development corporations, public works departments, interior designing, etc. after taking courses from this institution.
● Education loan facility is also available through SBI banking at NIT Hamirpur.
Admission Process
NIT Hamirpur offers various graduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in architecture. The criteria for NIT Hamirpur admission is as per the general requirements of other NITs and is based on nationwide entrance tests like JEE main (for B.Tech program) and GATE (for M.Tech programme).
Ph.D. aspirants (they have to qualify for the NET, National Entrance Examination) will have to additionally appear for the interview and give a presentation as a part of the entrance exam conducted by the Institution.
To confirm one's seat, a student must achieve the requisite cutoff marks. The hard copies of the documents of the candidate, if required, have to be sent through registered or speed post. NIT Hamirpur admission remains provisional until and unless it is confirmed by the management department upon successful verification of documents on reporting at the institute in person. NIT(Hamirpur) successful admission into each course also depends on the number of seats available at that time.
Result and Cut off
Every year the college announces the cutoff marks on its college website, which is necessary for the interested candidates to get admission in their respective fields of interest.

However, the B. Arch cut-off program is dependent on JEE main paper II scores. JoSSA releases the cut-off list after distributing reserved seats for different categories such as General, OBC, SC, ST, and PwD for this program.
Placement
NIT Hamirpur has one of the best placement cells. About 80% of the students were placed with good jobs and internships at international companies. The highest salary of Rs 70 lakhs per annum has been recorded till now.

Classrooms : The classrooms are well equipped with the latest audiovisual facilities alongside state of the art equipment.
Library : The Library of NIT Hamirpur has a rich collection of more than 80,000 books, magazines, and electronic as well as print journals in the fields of Architecture, Engineering, Science subjects (such as Mathematics, Physics), Humanities, and Social Sciences. The Central Library provides its students' databases.
Hostel : The college has provision for in-campus hostels for both girls and boys.
Sports Complex : NIT Hamirpur has a Basketball Court, Cricket Play Ground, Football Ground, Gymnasium, and Tennis court.
Fest : NIT Hamirpur Cultural fest, Hillffair, etc. are some of the fests which are organized by the students of the college.
