Overview

Jamia Millia Islamia University is also called JMI. This is a central university in Delhi established in the year 1920. It is accredited with an A grade by the National Assessment and accreditation council (NAAC), it is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities. The university offers a variety of courses under different departments and subjects. It has a full-fledge faculty of architecture and ethics which was started in the year 2001. The courses are undergraduate, postgraduate, various diploma, certificate, vocational, MPhil as well as Ph.D. in various fields of discipline. The university offers various international exchange programs in collaboration with many international universities. It also offers various scholarships based on the financial need, category of the students and they are mainly merit-based. 

JMI is one of the best universities that our country has. The university has been ranked high in the multiple degrees it offers. It has collaboration with various companies and universities, international as well as the nation that makes it a college to study in. 

Course Offered

The JMI University offers a variety of courses ranging from graduation courses to diplomas to Ph.D. in various fields. To be specific there are two-degree courses in architecture and six master courses alongside a Ph.D. Here are some of the courses that the university offers.

Admission Process

The admission process in all the courses at JMI is based on the merit of the student in the JMI entrance exam along with other examinations unique to the course. The entrance exam is conducted annually offline and the candidate has to give the exam prior to taking admission in any course. The admission process of various courses is similar.

● Click on apply now button- Click on the apply now and the form would appear

● Registration - The candidates are required to register on the official website before applying.

● Get registration number and password - After registration, the site will provide you with a registration number and password

● Login - Login again with the registration number and fill out the form for the desired course

● Attach documents - Along with the form, also attach supporting documents mentioned in the form.

● Make payment - Submit the application and make payment for the required application fee.

After submission, the candidate has to wait further, if they are selected they will be informed and asked to be a part of a personal interview before they get admission in JMI. Also to inform you, the B. Arch. courses applicants have to appear in JEE (Main) Paper 2 examination.

Result and Cut off

The admission into JMI is highly dependent on the score scored by the candidate in the JMI entrance exams along with the prior score. The university also takes personal interviews before admitting a candidate to a course. For UG courses the candidate must score more than 30% in the descriptive part of the JMI entrance exam to become eligible for admission. For PG courses the candidate has to score 30% in the descriptive part of the entrance exam as well as a good performance in the personal interview. For other Ph.D. courses, the candidate has to score at least 50% in both sections of the entrance exam. They have qualified for the exam to be a part of several rounds before admission. JMI university has a high cutoff and it has a lot of reservations for muslin candidates along with foreign candidates therefore it is quite hard to get a seat in JMI. The university also allotted seats according to the entrance exam like NEET, JEE, JEE MAINS to its candidates.

Placements

JMI has a very active placement cell that works in organizing a festival for the placement of its students. It has a very high placement ratio, which has a gradual and steady increase over the years. There are more than 50 companies that participate in hiring and placement in the JMI campus with also 90% of its students getting hired. The star recruiters are Global Logic, blue star. Other companies are Oberoi hotel, Kumar Moorthy associates, NIIT, etc. The highest salary offered in JMI placement could reach up to 40 LPA and the lowest package could range from 2 to 5 LPA. 

Campus Facilities

JMI has some of the best campus facilities for students. Raging from an all-equipped library which has many 3+ lakhs books. The library also has digital resources for its students to use. There are multiple hostels for girls and boys separately. The hostels are equipped with a gym, dining hall, wifi, canteen, etc. There are also multiple sports complexes on campus, some of which are badminton court, basketball court, athletics court, volleyball, hockey, cricket as well as a football ground. Speaking specifically about the architectural department, the facilities available for the students include studios, computer lab, faculty library, construction yard, and workshop studios. There are various other facilities such as a hospital, cafeteria, auditorium, and moot court for law students.
