The Integrated M.Tech. Trimester Model

The expansion to Bhubaneswar and Jalna campuses introduced a revolutionary pedagogical model: the 5-year Integrated Masters Program (i.M.Tech.). This program is designed to create "industry-ready" engineers by integrating substantial work experience into the curriculum. The program operates on a trimester system, consisting of 15 trimesters over five years.

A critical feature of this model is the alternating structure between classroom study and industrial internships (In-Plant Training or IPT). Out of the 15 trimesters, nine are dedicated to classroom learning and six are dedicated to full-time industrial work. This allows students to accumulate two full years of industrial experience by the time they graduate. Students are divided into batches (Batch A and Batch B) that rotate between the institute and the industry, ensuring continuous engagement with industrial partners. This immersive experience covers sectors such as petrochemicals, textiles, polymers, pharmaceuticals, energy, and food engineering.

Admissions and Selective Eligibility

Undergraduate Admissions (Mumbai Campus)

Undergraduate admissions for the Mumbai campus are managed primarily through the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra. For the B.Chem.Eng. and B.Tech. programs, seats are distributed between Maharashtra State candidates (70% based on MHT-CET) and All India candidates (30% based on JEE Main). The B.Pharm. program is strictly reserved for Maharashtra candidates, with admissions based on MHT-CET and NEET scores.

Eligibility for these programs requires a minimum of 45% marks in the 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. However, the actual admission cutoffs are significantly higher. In 2025, the expected MHT-CET cutoff percentiles for premier branches like Chemical Engineering and Food Engineering were 99.62 and 99.69, respectively.

Off-Campus Admissions (Bhubaneswar and Jalna)

Admissions for the Integrated M.Tech. programs at the off-campus centers follow a different quota system. The Jalna campus reserves 70% of its seats for Maharashtra candidates and 30% for All India candidates. In contrast, the Bhubaneswar campus offers 100% of its seats on an All India basis, with admissions determined by JEE Main scores through the JoSAA/CSAB counseling process.

Postgraduate and Doctoral Entrance

Postgraduate admissions (M.Tech., M.Chem.Eng., and M.Pharm.) are primarily based on GATE and GPAT scores. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with at least 60% marks. For M.Sc. programs, the institute conducts its own entrance examinations, requiring a B.Sc. in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55-60% aggregate.

Research

ICT can be singled out for its focus on research work it has built vibrant relationships with both government bodies and the corporate because of which it could generate around ₹50 crores from external sources. Currently, ICT graduates 100 PhDs annually, which is about 10% of India's engineering PhDs. the Ministry of Textiles sanctioned ICT as National Center of Excellence in Sportswear with a grant of ₹24.5 crore for researching sports-related apparel and goods. With this, ICT has become the first institute in India to conduct research on sports fabrics. ICT hosts several research centers within the campus.
