Among the newly established IITs of India, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, located at Rupnagar, Punjab, holds the pride of place. It is one of the eight newer technical universities established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The prime objective of the institute is to expand the reach and enhance the quality of technical education in the country.
